How's that for a catchy name? I thought it would be a great idea to pol our collective tastes and creative minds, and have a page, where we could share and view Recipes! I've been concocting some new things for Protein Drinks, but this can be for any recipes- whether its Protein, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Appetizers, Desserts,Healthy Snacks, etc. I know that unflavored proteins like the Unjury or Any Whey Brands, allow you to add protein to soups, s/f cookies, puddings, oatmeal, yogurt etc. I just recommend no mushy type recipes, as we are all past that stage. So I thought this would be an excellent and endless source of Reference for us, whether we find a new recipe to share- or create one- it would be another great way for us to work on our GOALS ( see how I worked that in?) and maintain our hard earned weight loss. Plus it opens our palates to new tastes and foods, things that may not have occured to us to try. I just recently found out I could have soup! I was having Chili fine, did not think about soup. Who knew? Again - please keep in mind that not everyone tolerates food the same way. I include brown rice or whole wheat pasta or angel hair pasta, because I can tolerate them, in small quantities and not everyday - so keep this in mind, as I want to encourage new ideas and not "dumping" episodes. Thanks! I am going to kick this off with something I just discovered- its has me increasing my protein intake daily and I think it tastes delicious! 1- Dijon Pork Chops This recipe serves 6, so scale it as needed. I always make extra so that there is 1-2 left over and I can have for lunch during the week. 1 cup whole-wheat or stone-ground breadcrumbs 1 Tablespoon melted SmartSpread or similar 2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard (divided) 2 Tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley (optional) 6 boneless pork loin chops Salt and pepper to taste Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees. In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs, butter, and 1 T of the mustard, parmesan cheese, and parsley. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper. Spread the remaining dijon mustard on one side of each chop and place the chops (plain side down) on a baking sheet. Divide the breadcrumb mixture among the chops and pat them into the mustard. Bake the chops until they are fully cooked and the breadcrumbs are nicely browned, about 20 - 25 minutes. You can serve this with a nice salad and cinnamon applesauce. YUMM! 2- Gulf Coast Shrimp And Vegetables INGREDIENTS 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 large onion, cut into thin wedges 1 small red bell pepper, cored, seeded, cut into thin strips 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional) 1 pound medium or large shrimp in the shell, peeled and deveined (about 12 ounces after peeling) 1 zucchini, cut into thin 2-inch-long strips 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme, or 1 teaspoon dried thyme 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes DIRECTIONS Heat the oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion, red pepper, and garlic. Saute until limp, about 3 minutes. Sprinkle with salt, if desired. Push the onion mixture to the edges of the skillet. Add the shrimp and zucchini; sprinkle with thyme and red pepper flakes. Saute until the shrimp are opaque, 4 to 5 minutes. Toss to mix well. Serve immediately. You can add steamed brown rice or whole wheat pasta as a side dish. This you can share with family- and feel included. Top the meal off with some fresh seasonal fruit, like strawberies and "dipping sauce". The secret dipping sauce is Dannon Fit & Healthy Vanilla Yogurt. I recenty tried this- they are Yummy as a sweet finish. Don't tell anyone your secret- and they will be stumped. Protein Shakes: I am a big fan of Nectar brand protein- I love their Quick mix (spoon or shaker or blnder) capability and the flavors are fruit based and a nice alternative to the standard "chocolate, vanilla, strawberry" choices that you mix with milk, water or soy milk. Nectar comes in flavors like Iced Tea, Kiwi-Strawberry, Roadside Lemonade, Apple Ecstasy, Carribbean Cooler, Fuzzy Navel, Cappucino. The newest is the Cappucino- and it can be mixed in hot or cold, add ice & some s/f syrup to it- and you have an ice cold frappucino! 3- Nectar Fuzzy Navel Creamsicle 1 scoop Fuzzy Navel ( 26gms protein) 8 ozs Crystal Light Sunrise 2-3 TBs Cool Whip Ice to blend Set aside 1TB Cool whip - Mix all the ingredients in blender. Pour into a tall glass- add ice if wanted- and top with dollop of cool whip. Voila! I also recommend you add 1-2 s/f ice pop either Tropicana or s/f Snapple Orangeade- makes it a little slushy on those hot summer days. 4- Nectar Iced Tea 1-2 scoops Tea protein 4-6 oz Crystal Light Lemonade ( Pink or Lemon- doesnt matter) 14oz Diet Arizona Iced Tea ** 1 packet of Splenda Sprig of Mint or Lemon Ice to Blend Mix it all in the blender- pour over a tall glass with Mint or Lemon * Ice This is delicious and you won't even know you are drinking protein! I drank 32oz of this today! LOL It does not work well with the Crystal Lite Tea..It closely resembles the Arizona s/f tea- I discovered this recently. I can't wait to try it with peach or another flavored tea. ENJOY! Donna

Hi Donna, Fun idea and I must of have been catching your vibe as I went to the library this week to pick up Carnie Wilson's books and picked up a few low-carb recipe books. 2 Atkins (just finished making copies of the recipes I want to try) and "The Low-Carb Bible". I don't know who else is basically following a low-fat version of Atkins - but it's the quickest way to describe what I supposed to follow. Anyway... check out your local library for cookbooks and if you're interested in a low-carb one - try and find the Low-Carb Bible one. Has some really yummy sounding recipes and EVERY one has a picture! When I get a chance to try some I'll post. Dawn 258/141/135

Hey Donna, the recipies sound good! I have a question though. I rarely cook (live alone)... what is low carb snack are good? I'm sick of protein bars, cheese, and yogurt. I was wondering if you or anyone else knows of anything for a non-chef like myself But I might even try the pork chops.

Hi- how about strawberries (they are in season now) and are HUGE! With some Light and Fit Vanilla yogurt- only think of it as dipping sauce- someone did this to me recently and I went crazy for the "dipping sauce" only to find out it was vanilla yogurt.. ha ha! And how about Peanut Butter? I have become addicted to this- have a jar ( on my work desk right now) and I eat it with some Club whole wheat crackers or Wheat Thins..and what about PB on an apple? or with a banana? I did both of these yesterday ( one at a time) the banana was very filling. Also- try some S/F ice cream made with Splenda..I just bought some in chocolate- even though Im not a big chocolate IC lover -this is actually very good..its LoCarb and I found it by accident, while looking for s/f ice pops. Have you tried the Diet Snapple pops? yummm! My girlfriend loves to end every meal with something sweet- so she has fresh fruit- blueberries, cantaloupe- pineapple- whatever she has- and does a small bowl-and tops it off with Cool Whip.. Did you know that CW now comes in strawberry and chocolate flavors? so now you have some really great things to try! Donna

I'd like to recommend this site for general recipes: www.lightandtasty.com They have a pretty cool recipe finder that lets you search by so many different things, including low carb, high protein and specific foods. Nearly every recipe has nutritonal counts, too. And you can save them to your own recipe file or create a grocery list. I've found some awesome fish recipes here.
