Hello all~ First if you like please check out my profile. I've added some new pictures from this weekend. Down 91 lbs and feeling great. My question to everyone is.. I want to start tanning for a wedding. my surgery was open. Do I cover the scar?? If I do what would I put over it?? Thanks for all input. Kristin

Hi Kristin! You can simply put sunblock on your scars. Use the strong kind if you are worried about it darkening. My scars don't darken when I tan so I don't worry about it. Lori

Hi Kristin! I have a tanning bed at home, and began tanning again at about 6 months post op. I don't put anything on my RNY scars. I also use tanning accelarators, and haven't had any problems. However, if you want to cover your scar, you can use bandages down the length of the scar. (When I was newly post op my surgeon told me I could go right back to tanning if I wanted to, just put bandages over the incision sites.) Or you could use sunblock. Happy tanning! Hi Kristin... Great pics. Looks like you had a great time. Not sure on the tanning. I would guess that you should use something on your scar though. Tammy
