Okay, I don't get on my soapbox often...
BUT... This is an echo of Tammy's previous rampage. I was watching the news tonight and I heard them describe gastric bypass as the "quick fix surgery for obese people". I guess ignorance is bliss. It just seems that since I have had surgery, I hear so many negative statistics and it worries me. I was and still am at times, an emotional eater. However, since reading Tammy's post about this topic, I have gotten better. I don't want to be another statistic and it really helps knowing that I can come home and "talk" to people that really understand where I am and know how hard it is sometimes. I know that we all have our highs and lows, our good days and bad days.
SO... To all my surgery buddies, best of luck on your journey and I love all of you!
Right back atcha girl..... It's pretty sad that society looks at the negatives rather than the positives. We know the truth, that's what matters. We'll show them they're wrong.
This is the best message board... I'm soooo glad that we all are so comfortable with each other & know that we ALWAYS have someones ear that will listen or shoulder to cry on....

Yeah, I am pretty sick and tired of hearing that myself. My sister of all people has said it about me. We have always had this competition about who weighs less. Well, for the last 15 years or so, she has had me beat by about 80+ lbs. But not anymore. We wear the same size again. But I know that I will get smaller and keep my weight off. She has been doing the PRISM diet, kinda like Adkins, and has lost 25 or so lbs. She has done this about once a year for the last 5 years. I hope she keeps it off this time but the chances are, she won't. She has to work hard to lose weight. SO DO I! I am basically eating the same way as her, but one difference, I work my butt off exercising! She doesn't do a lick of exercise! But I am taking the easy way out... YEAH RIGHT!
I love you all too. We can vent about anything and not have someone judge us. I am so glad to have all of you on this journey with me!

Hija Clarissa,
Of course I agree with you and as we're leaving our honeymoon period we're realizing how hard the long term is going to be. As I'm w/i spitting distance of my goal maintaining is scaring the begibbers out of me! If this was so easy why do so many post-ops regain their weight? Yeesh... folks are just idiots sometimes.
