Hey all. I'm 7 months post op on the 19th of this month, and so far I've lost 80 pounds. I know it sounds great, and believe me it feels great, but there's a problem. I've only lost 20 pounds since Thanksgiving, which was 4 months ago. I lost so rapidly in the beginning, that I got used to seeing results week to week. Now, it feels like it has just stopped. Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else? I feel like I'm not going to lose anymore, and this depresses me because I still have 50 pounds to go. It feels like it will never happen. Can anyone help? Maybe offer some advice to jumpstart the weight loss again? Thanks. Corinne 285/205/150????

Hi Corrine! You and I started out about the same weight. I was 281. I am now at 195. I, too, went through periods of time when my losses were reallllly slow. I started really working on my exercising a little over a month ago and have kick started my weightloss. Are you getting any exercising in? That could be all you need to get the lbs to start dropping again. Of course this is only a suggestion. I don't think you are done losing. I think you are like alot of us who are just losing at a slower pace. Trust me, we are NOT alone! I think you are doing great! And if you ever need any support, we are ALWAYS here for each other! Hi Corinne, I'll be 7 months this Wednesday (the 15th)... I too, have lost 21 lbs since Thanksgiving. You can see, by my profile, that I was losing alot the first 4 months as well & it really slowed in December. I started a March Exercise challenge & after working out diligently for 6 days, I actually gained 3 1/2 lbs. This made be very frustrated, but the scale how now returned to where it was in the beginning of March. I'm continuing the exercise because I believe that is the reason I slowed down. Not too mention exercise is wonderful for our health & our future success with this surgery. Hang in there, Corinne, we're all in the same boat. As long as we follow our surgery rules, the scale will continue to move. Remember, slow & steady wins the race. We're here for you whenever you want to vent. Lord knows, we all do every now & again.... Tammy 284/204/145

Hi Corinne, I echo what everyone is telling you. I've had a 4 week period already where I only lost 3 pounds, then it all starts going again. I, too, have hit the gym again, and man did the weight ever start coming off quick again. I mean fast! You are not done losing by any means. I wish you the best, and hopefully things start rolling again for you soon. You look great! Jeff

it's happened to me, too!!! i've had a 3 pound month, and last month was only 7! just make sure you're eating enough and getting in your protein and your water. also keep up the exercise. don't worry, it will all come off, it's just gonna be a little slower now. hang in there! Lisa B #2 226/158/126

Hey Corrine! I am right in there with you. My surgery was on the 16th, so just 3 days before yours. My weight loss has slowed down as well, however, I feel like I am still losing inches. You may want to start measuring if you have not been to make sure you are not at a plateau. You need to make sure you are getting enough food, protein and fluids in as well as exercise. I am guility of not always doing this myself, but if you are doing this and not losing weight or inches you may have hit a plateau....a plateau is only if your weighloss stops and you are not losing inches...I have listed a plateau buster below if this is your case. If you don't need it now, save if for future, but you must follow this to the "T" for it to work: How to break a plateau #1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau #2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day #3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day #4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day beef pork chicken turkey lamb fish eggs low fat cheese cottage cheese plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?) peanut butter beans/legumes You may also have: sugar free popsicles tea or coffee sugar free soda sugar free jell-o broths/bullion (sp?) crystal light drinks #5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!! Best of luck...keep us posted! Nancy 8/16/05 RNY 5'8" 320/202/170 (surgeon's goal/mine is 150)

I'm right there with you. I've only lost 14 lbs in the last two months. It's really given me a bad attitude about eating right. It seems I don't lose no matter what. I've only lost 5 lbs in the last month. I have about 67 lbs to go and have no idea how I'm even going to get close. - Torrey (281/207/140)

I was getting ready to moan and groan and say I am not losing but when I picked up my daily weight loss notebook with the numbers I actually see that I am losing on a consistent basis but I am impatient and my weight loss in numbers has slowed down a lot. I am feeling so much more self esteem about myself that I know with more patience I will get to the tiny body I plan to be sporting around for life. I have had to re align my goals and realize I will be a little slower getting to the little bitty me than I thought surgery date Aug 24, 2005 when I had my RNY done. It will be warmer here soon and I plan on a kicker by doing more exercise and today I am going to put on a paper each thing I eat so I am not kidding myself. I have lost 76.5 pounds so far. 8 days ago I hit a gust of 2 pounds less than today but I feel that is truly weight fluctuation and I will eventually get back out of 161.5 and into 159 again, the question is how long will it take? I am happy to be able to get through small areas without having to take the big broad area so I won't bump into chairs or hangers in a store or bump into people with my really big body. I am almost normal now. Trying to be patient with my body as it is trying so hard to get little for me. I keep saying this but thanks to August surgery people for telling all of us the things so many of us are going through.

I have only lost 24 pounds since Thanksgiving and 81.5 total. So I know exactly what you are going through, girl! What a head game!! I have posted on other boards (May, June & July). They all said that their weight loss slowed way down at four months, but they are still losing, just not as fast now. I know that exercising at least five days out of the week since Tammy started our daily exercise post on this board has helped me break this last plateau. I was stuck at 200 for almost the entire month on February. I have lost 5.5 pounds since March 1st when the post began. I feel I am more focused when I exercise. So you are not alone. Most of us are in the same position as you are in right now. We just have to fight for every pound that we lose at this stage of the game. LOL, Sherry 276/194.5/130-140

Corinne- keep at it One major difference between the first few months and now - we were doing more protein daily- shakes and stuff - AND we were eating much less.. what we eat in one meal was probably 2 meals back then- remember? we started small like an egg- and gradually grew into more fuel - which is a good thing- because we are all tolerating so well . I have started going back to 50 gms in shakes a day- one before my workout and one before bed or post workout- and drinking more water. You are not on a plateau..take your measurements- and you will see within a month- you will have lost bodyfat- even if the scale says 2lbs..and for the next week- I am committed to getting in 30mins- just 1/2 of exercise until I get back into my routine again- and try that out- make 30mins for yourself- and you will get back to losing weight again.. Email me and let me know how you are doing ! Hugs, Donna
