Hello to all of you, my August buddies! I wanted to ask you if any of you have any pain after eating....I'm not talking about anything major or unbearable, but....about 3 times ot of 5 I will have some sort of pain or discomfort after meals, that usually passes on it's own. There is no trends that I can see as to exactly what kind of food triggers it and what kind doesn't, or any other "paterns" I could identify. It just seems more frequent now than it used to be even a few months ago. Or maybe I'm just more sensitive to it. I'm not looking for advise or eplanation of why it may be, but wanted to see how common it's b/w my peers. hope you all are well, Best wishes, Rita 8/8/05 255/185/165

I hurt alot when I drink right after eating or eat too fast. It passes within 10-15 minutes.

Hi Rita, I think it happens more often for me because I can eat some foods a little faster. Of course, my mind seems to think I can eat all foods faster & do feel some discomfort. Not sure if it's what you feel, but that's what happens to me. Tammy 291/284/204.5/145

Clarissa, Tammy, thanks for your replies. Actually I was talking about pain that doesn't have to do with breaking WLS rules, but rather if you eat the right foods, eat them slow, and don't drink,... but still hurt more than 50% of the time after eating... And I guess, from the lack of responce to this quesion, it's NOT that common hugs, Rita

Actually...this has been happeneing to me lately... I haven't had any appetite the past 3-4 days (maybe because of this) and finally ate a good dinner last night - rotisserie chicken, sweet potato, green beans - and have been in pain ever since...which makes me not want to eat ANYTHING again! I'm not "dumping" or anything...chewed well...and only ate a small amount. I can't tell if it's gas or what...but it is so uncomfortable (and still here 12 hours later!) I don't know if this helps you at all, but I'm starting to freak out. Wendy 278/193/165

Hi Wendy, Well I'm still feeling the same thing, even worst now. Called my doctor, told me to come in if I was really concerned, but that it didn't sound like a bowel obstruction, since I wasn't , but it is very uncomfortable. He told me if it doesn't get any better come through emergency. It feels like everything I eat goes through the stomach and lodges in my intestines, laxatives hasn't helped either. I will probably end up going in to emergency tonight. Maybe you should think about going in yourself. Toya 284/219/175??

Hey Toya... Funny you should say that because I ended up in the ER Monday night. The pain got so intense over the weekend I couldn't take it anymore. Couldn't even take in fluids. They say I have "inflammation" in my small intestine, duodendum, and my bowels, but don't know what's causing it. They say my pouch looks great and no leaks...but there is fluid in my pelvis. Nice. Well after a nice dose of morphine overnight, I felt better Tuesday and after many hours of radiology testing, they sent me home. So I'm home, on liquids and soft foods and totally confused about what the hell just happened to me. How are you doing? Wendy 278/196/165 (plus I gained 5lbs from the IV fluids!! Damn it!!)

Hey Wendy and Toya, I don't post here often, but you may have heard my story by now. I've had almost non-stop problems with pain since my surgery. Two endos ruled out stricture, but I did have a partial bowel obstruction over Christmas and spent three days in the hospital. I've been tentatively diagnosed with two probable causes of my pain...today, my surgeon recommended having my gallbladder removed due to chronic nausea/vomitting and something called 'sludge' showing up on my ultrasound. Secondly, I have been diagnosed with a motility disorder called gastroparesis. I am still on a puree diet and hoping the gallbladder surgery will improve my food tolerance. I follow the pouch rules faithfully, so therefore it is not a compliance issue. Have either of you had your gallbladder xrayed? I have an extensive surgical history, so that may be the cause of my developing gastroparesis. Hope this helps some... toni

Hi Wendy, Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I'm just getting back on the computer, but I'm doing great. My doctors didn't know what was causing the pain. CT showed some shadows, couldn't figure out if I had a hernia in my intestines or not. They kept me for a day and a half. That was the worst hospital stay ever. Took them 10 pokes to get blood and to put in an IV. Had to stay in the emergecy room over night so that they could observe me after a meal, it was so busy that no one came when I put on my light;this happened all through the night. I almost fell of the stretcher. Thought that I was going home after that but they ended up admitting me ( without my knowledge). They thought that the doctor had told me that I was being admitted. NOT! They finally sent me home with no knowledge of what was causing the problem. My hand still hurts from the IV, It was a nightmare. Yes, I'm feeling confused too. I gained 8lbs from the IV fluids, but it came off within a few days Boy is Onderland ever going to come? Was I rambling or what . Toya 284/219/175??

Yes, Rita I get pain too. Not all the time but alot. Like everything that I ate for the week is stuck in my intestines. Sometimes takes a few days to go away, still feeling it now. Toya 284/219/175??
