Hair Question
I have a question for all of you out there. My hair does not seem to be falling out much any more, and is maybe even growing in a little. But, the texture of it has changed in the past few weeks. It seems to be very dry and straw-like. It has no body. Is anyone else experiencing this? Could it be related to swimming in a chlorine pool for exercise? I definitely do not like it, but it may be a matter of this too will pass. If anyone has experienced this, I would like to know.
Thanks.

YES! ANd think you may be right.. I never to under - when in the pool at Ballys..and I also washed my hair 2x..and the texture was exactly as you describe..I hated it..I went to my stylist and they colored my hair yesterday-it looks and feels great- this time I washed 1x and used Artec
kiwi shampoo (for colored hair) and **used the Artec Kiwi detangler and stay in conditioner..and it worked fine. I also began taking special supplements for hair..got them at the vitaminne shoppe..its called
hair/skin/nails complex- its inexpensive and that may also be helping- I take 2-3 a day..Plus Im also anemic.
Hope that helps
Donna
Hi Eileen,
I'm glad your hairloss has slowed down. Mine didn't pick up until Jan. and it's not slowing down, though I have new hair growing at my front hairline. I have noticed how absolutely dry my hair is so I went out and bought a leave-in super conditioner at Wal-mart. Feels more normal today. The chlorine in the pool is a MAJOR contributor to the dryness. Either wear a cap or get a special shampoo for swimmers and use a leave-in conditioner.
You're doing great - keep it up!

As a long time swimmer, the best thing you can do for your hair is invest in Aveda Currescence conditioner. I tried EVERYTHING out there for my hair and it has been the only thing that helps. Also:
1. Wet your hair before you dive in. The porous part of your hair absorbs whatever water comes first, so douse it with regular water.
2. Wear a cap if you can - I hated them so I didn't.
3. ALWAYS wash your hair as soon as you come out with a shampoo especially for swimming. Don't let it dry with chlorine in it.
4. Use the Aveda Currescence (spelling?). It really saved my hair when I swam.
5. Follow all the steps even though they are a pain in the a$$!
Good luck,
Donna
I have been experiencing that for a while. My hair is sooo dry and dull. Mine also falls out alot. I take biotin and it seems to be growing but it is not my normal hair at all. My surgeon said all of that will start to improve once the rapid weight loss starts to slow down. Usually around 8 months or so. I hope it gets better soon, I can't take much more of this.

Hi Eileen,
My hair started to fall out/ break off a month or so ago. I hope it is slowing down, it seems to be but I don't want to jinx myself! I also experienced the same texture issue with my hair as yourself. I started using Aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner (I got it at Walmart) just a couple weeks ago. It has helped my hair feel beautiful again. I would recomment it to all that feels like their hair is dry/ damaged. It is cheap enough to at least try- only costs a few bucks.
Hope it helps everyone : )

Thanks to everyone who answered. Got some good ideas of products to try.
I hadn't seen this topic before and was thinking that I am the only one with fly-away hair. That is one great thing about this board -- you find out that you are not alone with an issue and often get great advice regarding the problem.
Thanks so much everyone!
