Oh Amy, I can totally sympathize with you. I haven't lost very much this month or last month. I have not lost anything for the last 2 weeks. And before that I think it was 4 lbs in the last month. Very frustrating. But... my clothes are fitting better. I just need to stay off the scale and not worry about what it says, and worry about how I feel instead. Nice job on the 86lbs!!!! Oh an by the way, you can B*TCH anytime you want! Lori

hey Amy I'm feeling the same way...only 3 lbs in the past 3 weeks! I know I'm not getting my water or protein in like I should so I do blame myself... People at work though have been showering me with compliments about how great i look and how much weight I've lost...I almost feel bad when they do because the scale hasn't moved!! Keep up the good work! Wendy 278/206/165

Amy, You are not alone in this... I know that I've only lost 2 lb in last..... 3 weeks, and maybe max of 6 lb since over a month ago...and total only 65 lb...I can't say that I'm doing everything the way I'm expected to, but I'm trying to stick close to it...I'm good with protein, very bad with water, and ok on exercise.....And at this point I'm not going to worry about slowing down in WLoss...as long as it's coming down.. best wishes, Rita RNY 08/08/05 255/190/160

Amy, Isn't it the most frustrating thing! I think I have gone from 201 to 199 at least three times in the last week or so. Why does it have to do this at such an important time-onderland. I have tried to stay away from the scale and have been weighing every few days vs. daily but I think I just need to move the scale downstairs to the basement. At least then I will have to do the steps to weigh in!! Not that I wish a stall on anyone but it sure is nice to know that I am not alone. Hang in there, Lynne 276/199/146

Hey Amy... I think we must have all hit that point in the post-op life. I haven't lost much weight at all since Christmas, but I have dropped another size (and that depends on what it is I'm wearing). So, I am just assuming and accepting this as normal, even though it sucks!!! Good job on your weight loss! Clarissa 346/237/150ish

HI Amy and all the August Stallers, I posted this a week or so ago and wanted you all to read it. First i wanted to say I also hope to lose more weight, however, if I have to work hard to get it off I will. Before having this surgery I went on weigh****chers I was on it starving and only lost 30 lbs in 5 months. I have lost 77 lbs. I am so happy and although I can eat and blow it a little I have this tool to keep me on track. There is no way I can down a bag or box of cookies and have a hot fudge sundae. That is how I would have reacted before. So if I did not lose weight without working on it I am happy with what I got from surgery, Tonight I did not go work out. Tomorrow I will and I will eat better to rid the rest of the weight even if it takes a year to get the rest off or longer. I love the old me coming back and no way do I want to keep those old habits that got me into trouble before. Hope this helps Saw this on the June 2005 Surgery MB on OH and wanted to be sure that all my August buddies saw this ! read: Consider how difficult it is for you to run up ten flights of stairs all in one shot. Can you do it? I'm betting NOT unless you are a top-notch-conditioned Olympian, right? Now, of course, you could EVENTUALLY get up those ten flights of stairs if you rested on the landings periodically to catch your breath and pause for a moment before your heart explodes. you'd get up those stairs - but only if you rested on the landings or PLATEAUS. Well, running up ten flights of stairs in one shot is what we are asking our body to do after WLS in the way we want the body to lose a massive amount of weight. As our body loses weight so rapidly, it occasionally has to "rest on the landings" to catch its breath, get its bearings, take a breather. Then once it feels rested, it takes another shot at dropping the pounds again. It's remarkable that the body can drop so much weight so quickly anyway after surgery. but it can't do it all in one long shot like running up ten flights of stairs in one long shot. It has to rest on the landings or PLATEAUS. Keep this analogy in mind when you hit those plateaus. PLURAL. PLATEAUS. No such thing as ONE. you'll have many along your journey. When those plateaus hit, you still must do what you need to do. DON'T stop the good nutrition, the vitamins, the exercise. keep those routines going. And once your body is done "resting" in between the flights of stairs, it will kick in gear again for the next flight or two. And the more pounds that are dropped, the slower the pounds will drop too. so you will not lose rapidly during that last stretch of 25-30 pounds. it's like an athlete who gives his all during the race, sees the finish line in sight, and does all he/she can to finish. the muscles ache, the heart is about to burst. but the athlete DOES finish the marathon. some athletes "walk" across the finish line. but the point is they FINISHED. Understanding plateaus will help you relax a bit and keep you from self-doubt, which is something you don't need right now along your journey. Diana 263/186/135

Hi Amy, Yes it's frustrating. I lost 6 lbs in December and 8 in January, however, I've been teetering at 210.5-211.5 for a week now. It seems like forever, but really it's not that long. Our minds really play games with us after wls. It especially is frustrating that I'm only 11 lbs from ONEDERLAND.... Hang in there, the losing isn't over. We all have to remember the rules & stick to them which gets a little harder as time passes. Remember ********slow & steady wins the race******** Vent all you want....That's why we're here Tammy

I hate the stalls too. During my stalls I bounce up and down 2 to 3 lbs over and over and over. Drives me bonkers. I'm on a 5 day stall right now, and am sure it'll last a couple more weeks with my track record thus far. However in the past 5 days my clothes are fitting looser suddenly so I know that when I stall I still drop inches. Doesn't make the frustration much easier tho.
