Slight Gain...Normal?

Okay...I've been playing around with the same 3 pounds for the past 3 weeks. I know that some of my habits have contributed to this see-sawing...not enough water, grazing and sporadic exercising to name them. Now my worst fear has come true...I've gained 3 pounds in the last few days. This is in addition to the 3 pounds that I've been losing/gaining back. I'm so afraid that this is the beginning of the end for me and it has paralyzed me. I'm afraid the old negative voices will creep back in my head...telling me that once again, I've failed. I don't want to give up! I know this may be a normal thing to go through at this stage, but there's a battle brewing in my head! In the past, when I got to this point in my dieting, I've thrown in the towel...which I CANNOT do anymore. But I need encouragement! I know tomorrow is another day...but it scares me! Help! Toni

Toni, Don't be discouraged. Although, I have not experienced a gain, I have teetered up & down with a couple pounds. This happens often. My advice is to refocus. Refocus on water, protein & exercise. You've already figured out what the cause may be... (less water, grazing & lack of exercise)... Take it one day at time. Tell yourself, "today I'm gonna get all my liquids in", then focus on protein & exercise. Another good idea is to update your profile. Use it as a journal. I really am trying to document this journey, so I can go back & read it when I feel myself start to slip & remember from where I've come. I never want to forget. Don't worry, this isn't the end for you. Remember, it's a tool, not a cure. Good luck & Keep coming back to us for support, we're all in this together. Tammy 291/284/212/145

Toni: Don't give up. You just need to refocus and get control again. This is a tool and we have to learn how to use it right!! I gained and lost about 6# for about 30 days. It was frustrating, but then I said to myself, get a grip and move on. So more water, more protein and less weight!! That is the key. Now I am starting the exercising part. It will come and you are not a failure. Just at a point where you need some encouragement and control. Don't beat yourself up. Relax, refocus and take control!!! Take care and keep your chin up. And update you profile. Get some pics on there so you can look at them and see what you have accomplished!! Look forward and not backward!! Jen 275/189/150
