Hi All.... Everytime I see myself in the mirror I'm getting narrower! It's bizarre to see myself having a regular shaped body. Wonderful but definitley unusual. People don't recognize me when I walk in a room. My husband didn't recognize me last night when I met him at a restaurant. I'm down 63 pounds....five months out. Anyone think their bathroom mirror is a funhouse mirror too! Ha ha Gina 267/204/155

I was thinking just the opposite. I look and see the same person, although I have lost 106 pounds, I am sure I MUST look different. I guess it is in my head. When I can buy clothes from a regular store in a regular size, it will sink in. Carrie

I know I am smaller (from a size 22 to a 10 or 12) but I know I have a very distorted body image. I was reading WLS for Dummies this weekend and the book addressed that. I guess my view will eventually catch up to my reality... but I have been heavy so long that it is part of my identity. But... I went to the movies with my daughter and I was AMAZED how well I fit into the movie seat! Those seats were always tight on me. I actually had room to have my purse ON the seat with me! Mary

I know I must be getting narrower, I have gone from a size 24 to a size 12. However I have the same problem Carrie does, most days I don't see it at all. All I see is the fat girl. I have moments where I'll look in the mirror and think "wow - I'm smaller!" but then I won't be able to see it again for days or weeks. Connie 269/193/163 surgeon's goal

Hi Gina, What I've noticed is that my body is changing proportions. I have ALWAYS had a rear end that is proportionally larger than the rest of my body - have never had hips, just butt, but now my rear end is disappearing! I'm actually having to buy jeans that give me one. And, for the first time in my life I need to buy slim cut jeans, not relaxed. Just really, really strange, fun, but strange. Dawn 258/159/135

I can defenetly relate to you, Dawn...My butt and my leg used to be much larger than any other parts of my body proportionatly... not anymore.... but the strange thing is that my hips look bigger to me now....I lost lots in thighs, but not in upper part of them..., and lotss came off stomach /butt area.... so.... hips kinda... more noticable now....I don't want to get alarmed over it... it's still work in progress.... but , Gina, when I look in my reflection sometimes, I don't see it as me even...I'd literally have that thought in my mind: "who is it?", ... but there are other days, when all I see is "that fatty" as if no 63 lb lost at all.. so, I guess, that's a common "nuttyness" we all share..) have fun with it.. Yes, Gina I do see myself getting narrower. The strange thing is that I'm not going down in sizes like everyone else. I've always had big hips (bow hips, my aunts like to call them), big thighs, big butt, small waist and big Big chest (FF) . I use to wear 22 stretch jeans, had to buy some 24's occassionally, but I'm in a size 18 now. I don't like my clothes to fit loose, so you know they fit me like a glove, but not like they were painted on .I bought a size 16 once, and they're big( I think they fake us out sometimes ). I love looking in the mirror. Everytime I walk past one I have to sneak a look. I try not to do it all the time with people in the room I don't want them to feel that I'm conseded. I just can't believe that I've lost 61 pounds. People always didn't believe I weighed as much as I did, they always say that my body was proportioned well(but I didn't feel like that). But yes, I do see my mirror as a funhouse too . Toya 284/222-223/175?
