Gallstones...

I am sorry to hear of this for you. During my presurgery testing, my doctor scanned me for liver size and gallstones. I was SHOCKED back then to find out I was riddled with stones and never had a sick day because of it. My surgeon removed my gall bladder & did RNY surgery at same time. I questioned why- thinking it was unnecessary- until he gave me this response: "as you grow- everything gets bigger with you- your liver etc. Once you begin to get smaller- everything shrinks.. thats when you will have problems with the gall bladder- Once you lose weight- you will be throwing up and have stomach problems..its better to remove them both at once. Its harder to go in after RNY and remove it and it saves problems down the road". SO I took his advice and am not sorry. Here is another story to think on - My cousin is a Doctor and her husband a GYN doctor- they work in the same hospital as my surgeon, so you'd think they would know this.. Their daughter was heading off to college and the year before, her dad put her on a diet..she was also taking pills I think..she had maybe 30lbs to lose..anyway after she began losing weight, she began doubling over- having problems, vomiting and they didnt know what it was.. YEP..gallbladder..she had it removed at 18. So I hope that helps you. Donna

Luckily mine was removed 3 years ago. I had a gallbladder FULL of stones after I had lost 50 pounds in two months a few years ago. There's not much else you can do. If it hurts a lot, they'll take it out. In and out of the hospital the same day. Back at work 2 days later. Samantha
