Gallstones...
I'm not on any medication for my gallbladder & so far have been doing pretty good. In December I started getting some little twinges and decided that I should add a little fat into my daily diet to keep the gallbladder working daily. I haven't had any problems since. My sister, who had wls at the end of June, had her gallbladder removed last month due to stones. It really isn't uncommon with rapid weight loss to get them. Sometimes, I think it would be easier if the surgeon removed it when he does the surgery, but insurance won't cover it unless it's diseased at the time of surgery.
Good luck & keep us posted

this is VERY common after WLS surgery...they usually remove GB at the time of WLS surgery only if there is known underlining problem with it. Anybody can have Gallstones or cholecystitis developed, but in WLS patients it's just so much more common. I too have some issues with it now and plan on having Ultrasound done at 6 mo.post-op. It can be very painful, but once it's out, the whole problem gets resolved.
Best of luck to you, Rita
My doc takes out Gall Bladder on all open RNY patients because of the proclivity to develop gallstones. I had mine out and the lab report indicated that I already had problems with it. (I knew that!)
Guess it depends on the doc. Don't know if gall bladder comes out with laproscopic surgery... probably can, but not as prevalent.
