Darn scales!!
Gianna, You and I started about the same time and I have only lost 2.5 pounds in a month. Last month I lost 12, this month 2.5lbs and it is KILLING ME....But, I do know I was at this weight for about a year and unfortunately I was at 178 for about 2 years. So, does this mean I will have another plateau right after this one??? I upgraded my working out this week. I actually started jogging on the treadmill..... So, I hope I will start losing some weight soon, because I know that it effects my attitude.
Keep me posted when you finally get off that plateau.

Thanks everyone for making me feel better. Sorry I didn't reply yesterday I had a horrible migraine.
I really thought the scales would move today since I didn't eat much yesterday but they didn't. I think I need to have hubby put the scales up til Monday when I log my weights.
It really helps knowing others are in the same boat as me, but I hate it for all of us.

HI! You want to break a plateau? you can do it inside of 1 day or one week.
Very Simple- exercise with weights. You should be doing 64oz of water
but also remember we retain 4-5lbs of water during menses.
I stalled for 2 weeks- went to the gym- did 45mins of cardio- treadmill- at 3-5% incline and then did 45mins of weight lifting- probably the equivalent of what you have at curves.I also swam & did the hot tub for 30mins! But I concentrate on where my fat is heaviest- like abs and legs/gluts. I hd burned 500cals,went 2.8miles at speed 0f 2.9 and incline of 3-5%. The next day my scale was down 1lb.
See my current post in my profile. You have to change the way you think about your body. We have been overfat and undermuscled for many years. What you need to think is this: our muscles are mini metabolic furnaces and metabolic fat burners. To make them burn fat- you need to build them, you need to lift weights. That is why simple dieting never works or lasts long You can do aerobic exercise for an hour and burn 500 calories and that is all you will burn. With weight lifting- your BURN LONGER than your workout, those metabolic furnaces are burning even while you sleep. That is why athletes have a higher "resting heart rate" than does someone who only diets and does not lift weghts.
Very simple- try using 1-2 lb handweights- they even go over your wrist
you can walk with them or you can punch with them if you like tae bo.
Look at "THE FIRM" videos. They were the first to advocate aerobic + weights at workout, back around 1980s.
I tell you all this- becasuse last time I lost weight, 1999, I worked out at the gym 5-6days/week doing the stairmaster 45mins and then doing a kick boxing class. I NEVER incorporated weight training- had someone explained the benefits I would have. I had lost 55lbs just dieting and working out over 16mos. I am NOW back at that weight and a lot smarter..so I pass this on to everyone who wants to achieve results and remain successful.
Hugs

I feel your pain!!! I am at a "true" plateau...no change in my weight for almost 3 weeks. (before this, I considered myself to be at a plateau when my weight loss was really slow...now I know how wrong I was!!). I have read the same info about plateaus occuring at weights you maintained for a long time. Well, thinking about that, I realized that I reached about this weight 10 years ago after taking Phen-fen, and this is the least I have weighed for a LONG time (think I weighed 188 when my son who just turned 18 was about 9 months old).
I can do better with protein and water, so I am drinking a protein drink every morning, since that makes it easier...I find that I am tending to eat more carbs, mostly because they are "easier" to eat (no discomfort etc.), so I am focusing on cutting them down as well. If I go another week I think I will try the plateau busting guidelines on the bariatric support center website ( I like a lot of their info and am a member there....)
I started at 236, am now 180 and would like to lose to 145 with a long term goal of weighing 150...
Have a great week all, and it is sure nice to know we are NOT alone...funny how so many of us have hit a plateau at the same time...do you think this will at least slow some of the hair loss???? And on that note, why doesn't the hair fall off your legs too??? why just your head???
Keep smiling!

Is this some 5 month out thing? I've been stuck at 161-163 for about 3 weeks. Oh well, I will just keep eating right and drinking lots and hopefully it will break on of these days.
I am a daily weigher. I no longer get bent out of shape if the scale goes up 1/2 pound to a pound as long as it goes back down the next day or so.
I'm off to the gym. I wi**** would get warm again so I could walk outside!
