Just Curious!
Do any of you smoke? I noticed back when I use to smoke(quit Dec. 11, 2004) I lost weight quicker and easier (when I got hungary I smoked and drank coffee). I'm not saying I'm going to start smoking again(also can't drink coffee anymore because of caffine), I was just wondering with those who has had wls was that one of the reasons that some of you are losing weight so quickely;or is it that you stick religously to your diet? Also is it true that if you drink your water you lose quicker. I'm trying to figue these things out. I'm one who has just started drinking my water the way I was suppose to Saturday, when I went to my first day of a one week trial at curves. My body since then has put on one pound and I had to take off one of my rings off because my fingers has swollen.
Please

The reason others are losing faster isn't because they smoke. At least I don't think so. Water is very important to WLS. Water is how your body rids itself of toxins and the fat that we are losing. It has to go somewhere. It sounds to me like you are retaining water. You need to be drinking at least 64 oz of water every day. And if you do, you won't be swollen. And stay away from the foods that made you fat before, like carbs and sweets. I don't eat any kind of sweets. And I limit the carbs because they make me feel sick. Eat dense protein like cheese and meats, or some kind of beans (I love pinto beans in salad). Or soy nuts. These things will fill you up and you will stay full longer. If you are cleared, eat salad with some kind of protein in it. Or fresh fruits (good carbs and good sugars). Also, you should be waiting at least 1 hour before drinking anything after you have eaten. You will stay full longer. Drinking right after you eat washes your food right out of your pouch. You will be hungry all over again. I hope this helps.

Hey Toya. I do not stick to my diet religiously, but I am still a fast loser. I had lost 100 pounds by Christmas. I have no idea why. I try not to, but I do eat alot of carbs sometimes, and for some reason all I've wanted to drink is coffee here lately. I do get in my fluids most of the time, but have almost dehydrated a few times since surgery. I've been told that the heavier you are, the faster you lose weight after surgery. My age may also have something to do with it.. I don't know. I'm not sure what the key is to fast losing, but I am surprised I did it. I haven't lost anything in about a month though. Hope everything works out for you!

Your weightloss is fine. You have lost 1 pound more than me. If you are swollen that is definately water retention. Are you consuming a lot of sodium??? I have noticed when I eat a lot of soup that I swell up. However, you must drink water and lots of it. Others are right it is the way your body gets rid of fat and other toxins... Try flavored waters, Dasani is awesome, expensive but good.

Toya,
Smoking is not good no matter how you look at it. Whether it stopped you from eating before or not (my opion of course)... I lost pretty good in the beginning & have slowed down quite a bit the last month & a half or so. Not sure why, but I've really been concentrating on my liquids & protein these last couple of days. Hopefully, this will help the scale to move again. Make sure you're drinking enough & watch your sodium intake. Also make sure you're taking your vitamins daily.
Good luck...I think you're doing Awesome

Tammy,
Thanks for your support. I am trying very hard to get in the protein and vitamins. What kinds to you take at this time;and how do you remember to take your vitamins everyday? Do you carry around a pill case?
I finally started drinking my water Saturday after visiting Curves I really like that place. I have a free week there. Wish I had the money to continue, I get so motivated from going;my kids go too. Continued Blessings on your weight loss.
