"REAL" Plateau News!

I wanted to let you all know that I have finally broken the "REAL" plateau that I was on. I posted last week and stated that I had been at a 60 pound weight loss (216 pounds) and holding since the end of November. I also posted on the July and June boards as well to see if those that are a little ahead of us experienced anything like what I went through so early in surgery. I had tons of responses. A lot of WLS patient**** a four or five week plateau between four to six months. Heads up, Ladies and Gentlemen! I hope it doesn't happen to you all anytime soon. What a head game! It was downright depressing! Anyway, I weighed Christmas Eve morning and had dropped to 214, Christmas morning I was at 212, Tuesday I weighed 211, yesterday I was down to 210 and this morning I weighed 208 for a total of 68 pounds. Thank God!! 276/208/130

Yeah, I think I have hit my plateau. My surgery was 8/2/05 and I've been hovering around 69 lbs lost and can't seem to get past it. It's very depressing. Especially when I see people who had their surgery after me and have already lost 100lbs. I'm happy for them but it's discouraging plus the massive hair loss I've been having. Thank God I had thick hair before surgery or I would probably be bald by now. Thanks for the information. Leigh

Leigh, I agree with you about the hair loss. I have long, blonde hair as well and it gets everywhere. It's pretty gross. Unfortunately, our June and July buddies are still losing their hair as well. I was informed that hair stops falling out at about seven months. I will be so glad. I had to cook my Christmas dishes while wearing one of my husband's baseball caps. I was so afraid that I would get hair in the food. As far as your plateau, I know it is so hard to go through. I am happy for those that have lost 100 pounds already, but I wish I was one of them - but we are not too far away. Keep your chin up, my friend.

LMAO..."I had to cook my Christmas dishes while wearing one of my husband's baseball caps." I thought I was the only one who was worrying about that! LOL!! I didn't wear a baseball cap, but I did pull my hair up and back and pinned it down. I didn't want hair in my passing dishes! LOL!! My hubby offered to go buy me some hair nets. I seriously was considering it! I have a dog that sheds....24/7, 365 days a year. I've been picking more of my hair off my clothes than his. Wouldn't you know. I made a veggie pizza to take to my aunt's for dinner. I brought home about 1/4th of it. Hubby and I were munching on it the next day. ON THE VERY LAST PIECE IN THE CORNER, was a long red hair...MINE! I was so worried about that. Don't know if there were any others, but was glad I got the piece with my hair in it! LOL!!! We just have to keep remembering where we've come from and where we are headed! The plateaus will come and go...we just have to work through them! Good luck and continued success! Hey Leigh. We share the same surgery date(8-2-05). I saw your reply to a question and it said you had lost 69 pounds and could not seem to move any further. Well guess what? I've also lost 69 pounds and have stalled. I weighed 240 pre-op and now I weigh 171. It's very frustrating I know, but at least now I know this is not abnormal. I know others who weighed almost the same as me before surgery who say they lost 100 pounds or more in 6 months and I really stress out then thinking that I may not lose all my weight. I've been looking at some of the others who have had wls in August and it seems we are losing faster than a lot of them. I lost about 61 pounds in 3 months and it has taken me almost 2 months to lose 8 more. I would like to lose about 41 more pounds. Please keep me posted on your future weight loss and let me know when your plateau breaks or even if you hit future plateaus. Good Luck!

Thanks for the responses. At least I'm not alone. Hehe! I weighed this morning and have now lost 73 lbs. I have become so addicted to weighing myself. I hate it, but I rush to the scales every morning. It's weird. If I forget to weigh in the mornings, it bothers me all day long. Anyway, thanks again for the encouragement!

Glad your plateau has finally ended! That must have been rough! I have been hovering at -72 for over a week now and it is killing me! I will be doing some extra exercise tonight and over the weekend to see if that helps. My goal is to lose another 20lbs before my 6 month check-up at the beginning of February. I hope I can do it!
