Hay Katie, I use my Gazelle everyday about 15 minutes a day. And then every couple of days I either do Pilattes or my Bike with the Pilattes. I am also working in a wharehouse on my feet all day long lifting and moving boxes for 8 to 10 hours a day. I know that it is helping because not only do I get a great burst of energy during the day I have also lost 98 inches total since surgery. Rocquetta 333/250/175 -98 inches -83 lbs

Hi Katie, I've started karate (kenpo style) mid-Oct. and do that 2-3 times a week (usually) and try to get to the gym once a week. I could obviously do a lot better, but my doctor's goal is a 8-10 lb/month weight loss and I'm averaging 12-14 lb/month so I'm not too concerned. When I go to the gym I do 20 min. each on an eliptical, treadmill, and bike (with arms). It probably helps that I'm a teacher so spend most of my day on my feet. Dawn 258/162/135

I think I have made the biggest changes in exercise since the surgery...it was the thing I felt would be the hardest for me (my favorite activity is reading, not exactly a calorie burner!!). Prior to surgery I started going to Yoga and walking outside or using a "WALK AWAY THE POUNDS" dvd. They come in 1,2 and 3 mile versions and I think they are a great way to get started. I have a hard time keeping up a fast pace when just walking outside, so I think I "burn" more with the tapes. 1 month after surgery the doc gave the OK to do more than just walk, so I started using the treadmill at a gym, now I do about 20 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the treadmill 3-4 times a week. I do strenth training 2-3 times a week (had sessions with a personal trainer to help me set up the program). In addition I try to go to YOGA at least 2 times a week, sometimes 3). THe Yoga has been even more benficial mentally than physically. I am a pretty slow loser, but I started with a BMI of 40, and the consensus on most boards seems to be that people with less to lose will lose slower. When we get weighed at our support group they use a professional Tanita scale which does body composition. During a 2 week span, I lost 4.2 pounds, which was OK....BUT, I had actually lost 7.4 pounds of FAT during that same time, so I gained some muscle due to exercise. I also think I am "smaller" than I was the last time I weighed this same amount, which I attribute to the exercise as well. (I weighed 179.4 this am...about a 56 pound loss since my surgery 8/30). I think you can work out at home and be very successful, but for me right now, I have gotten into the habit of going to the gym near work and I am afraid I wouldn't stick with it if I changed my routine!!
