alcohol???
I have. I have had a couple of glasses of wine. And also had a vodka/cranberry. It wasn't a huge diffference from how it hit me preop. I did get all warm and fuzzy faster though. I am probably gonna get flamed for this but I wanted to give an honest opinion. And for those of you wondering, yes I know the risks of drinking alcohol post op.
Take care,

I had one drink a few weeks ago (my surgery was 8/20) - it did hit me a lot faster than it would have pre-op. No biggie though, the warm fuzzies went away way before I have to drive. I think it all depends on the persons system. As with everything else, MODERATION is the key. I only had the one, noticed how it made me feel and cut myself off then and there.
Because we have bypassed the majority of our intestines (RNY) when you drink alcohol it doesn't break down as much as before, so it goes to your blood stream faster. So, basically the alcohol goes directly into your bloodstream....
I was told not to drink by one doctor. Because before you know it, you could just pass out or fall off the bar stool....

Besides it hitting you faster and harder than before, your liver is already working overtime while you are losing weight. They say that it is just too hard on your liver so you shouldn't do it during the first year of weightloss after WLS. AND it's alot of empty calories. Post that question on the main board and you will get all kinds of answers. AND finger waggers I don't drink regularly so I really don't see it as a problem for me.
