"My surgeon recommended upping my protein intake. I also take a hair/skin/nails supplement (which has biotin in it), L-cysteine (supposed to help your body use the protein you eat more efficiently), zinc, and selenium. These are all in some way supposed to help.
One thing that will help with the frizzies and make it look thicker (and really shiney) is a shine serum. I use Hask Spray-On Illuminator that I bought at Wal-Mart."
