So, who else is a slacker?
I have been so slack with exercising! It has been almost 3 weeks since I've worked out or even been walking. I feel sooo bad about it, but I haven't changed it. It's aggravating making two trips to go to the gym and work. Atleast in January, when I'm back in school, I'll be right by the gym, so I won't have an excuse then. Is anyone else go through this lack of exercise thing too??
Hi Clarissa. Yikes! I guess I have to join you! I'm such a fair-weather walker, and it has been cold here. I know it's not nearly as cold as the weather in some areas of the country, but to me, it's cold! Sooo, my DH and I just bought some glove liners and he bought me some ear muffs for Christmas. He's so sweet! He will do anything to help me get more exercise!
Let's just take this one day at a time and try not to beat up on ourselves. We KNOW that doesn't do any good!

I have an elliptical machine and at first when I was not working, I walked 3 miles a day. Then after I started working, I would do 1 hour on the elliptical, without using the arms (drs orders), but I wasn't losing anything, so I asked my doctor if perhaps I was working out too much. He said to try and work out 30-40 minutes every day. Well, I have slacked off a great deal. I only work out about 3-4 times a week for about 40-60 minutes. But, the important thing is I am still doing it. Even if it is inconsistant, I am doing it. I would recommend that everyone get some cardio machine in their house. Even if you make it a center piece of a room. It will remind you to do it and you can put it in front of the TV, Watch one show and you are done. We have made such a huge commitment. What's another couple hundred dollars to invest in a nice bike or treadmill or elliptical. Something to tie us over until spring... I actually want another piece of equipment so I don't get bored. But, if you have no machine, get ONE.... Then there is no excuse. Put it right smack in the middle of your livingroom....Who cares if it is ugly....It's a daily reminder....Once it is a habit, you can move it to another spot... Just an idea....What do you think???
What a great idea, Apryl. You really can't avoid it, can you. I have one of those recliner stationary bikes. When I'm able, I'm going to start riding it again because I just hate getting out in the cold weather! A friend of mine and I are going to start mall walking again after the first of the year. I also hope to be up to swimming by then. Right now, I am doing physical therapy for my shoulders and ribs, so I haven't been given the go ahead on any of that stuff yet. One day at a time.

Hey Clarissa,
Add me to your slacker list! I joined a gym November 3rd and have only been there 7 times! Now, what SHOULD be my incentive (if nothing else) is that Keystone reimburses half of the membership fee after 120 visits. Over the course of 12 months I would only 'need' to go 10 times a month...which hasn't happened yet! Yikes!! I am still only cleared for cardio, so I do the treadmill and bike when I'm there. I also try to walk, although I've even been slacking in that department lately. I guess for me, my 'excuse' is that I've had tons of complications and most of my day is spent , which is not a real good motivator to start jiggling around in a gym!
My pre-New Year's resolution is to get off my butt and do something!
