Holiday Temptations

How are y'all handling all the holiday temptations? I've been strong until recently. I passed up pies at Thanksgiving. My family's deserts. Even all the chocolate goodies that are all over my floor, I've managed to pass on by. Well, I might endulge in a mini reeses once a week. However, things are out of control in my world. I knew it was going to be tough, so I decided not to do my usual baking this year. Still the Holiday goodies keep on going. I managed to eat a third of a chocolate orange last night. Today people are walking around with trays of pastries. Bagles in the AM. Cookies in the afternoon. I want to scream. I'm chugging water. Eating yogurt. Popping mini bags of fat free popcorn, but it's getting hard to stay in the Christmas spirit. Oh, how I want egg nog. BTW, I finally made it to my 50lbs. I only hope I survive Xmas and can lose 50 or 85 more. Ho Ho Ho, Torrey (281/230/145)

This is how I look at it. If I allow myself one bit of something that I want and then can put the rest away, I am fine. At least I am not eatting the whole bag of whatever it is, like I did last year!! I do allow myself a bit or two here and there and that seems to satisfy my cravings. Hang in there and just remember the great rewards of our efforts!!! Smaller pants, smaller shirts...here we come!!! Take care and keep you chin up and mouth closed!! LOL Jen

I was never really crazy about sweet stuff... until now! Since the holidays are here, there are more goodies in my face, to tempt me. I do really well with that though. At Thanksgiving, I did have two bites of sweet potato pie, then I was done. It was good! I guess tasting won't kill us. I just want some bread and rice... I miss my carbs! Good luck with temptations!

Hi Torrey, I haven't really allowed myself anything becasue I'm afriad of getting sick. I'm still not tolorating food very well so I'm a little scared to eat things I know might not agree with me which I guess is a good thing becasue its kept me from trying things. Although at Thanksgiving I made a Pumpkin pie with Splenda and I allowed myself a little sliver it was so good and I couldn't tell it was sugar free. Best of luck to you during the Holiday Season. Merry Christmas Debbie

The holidays are a tough time of the year. So far, I've handled them okay. I too haven't had anything with sugar and I'm afraid to try. I'm assuming it'll make me sick so I'm not trying things and plan to keep it that way. HOWEVER, my dear darling husband made a batch of his tasty cookies this evening and the smell drove me nuts as they were baking. I just told myself no, you'll get sick plus it's not worth gaining any weight for and I made it through the baking periods. And, now, I'm really proud of me and feel good about that. Unfortunately, he told me he had two more batches to make before Christmas...hope I can hang in there and not sample them...lol... Good luck to all of you during the holidays. We can do this...we have to do this...it's in our best interest.
