How many Carbs?

I know this question has been posted in the past, but I can't seem to find the thread. What are your Carb counts like? I keep track of everything and it seems that my carb count is creeping up there. Most of the carbs are complex and contain a good amount of fiber. I've been eating the lower sugar oatmeal from Quaker...yet I'm concerned that the carb count is still too high (although I usually just eat 1/2 the pouch). I try to keep my sugar carbs to under 8 per serving...except when I'm doing yogurt or other dairy-based carbs, which are higher. Should I be calling my nut. on this? I'm just curious to know how many carbs is everyone else doing and which kind are more acceptable? Still trying to eat solids.... Toni

I limit myself to 30 total carbs a day - but try to stay under 25. I do not eat any sugars not even sugar free treats - just afraid this will be too much like the old sweets that were such a problem for me before. I went off all sugar an sweets a yr before the sugery so this has not been hard to resist. I found all the sugar free foods to be too sweet and artificial tasting. I think the 30 count limit came from my sugeon's office but cannot remember where I got this info. I do find that if I stick to this amount I do not eat too much of the wrong foods. Like a baked potatoe, I like them and they go down easy for me and I could eat about 1/4 of one everyday but I only have one maybe once every two weeks due to the carb count. Judye

I too try to stay under 30 carbs a day... I was never given a limit by my dr... I was only told that if you eat something with over 16grams of sugar that you can dump... thats what I was told to watch for. Hope this helps! Bridget
