i had surgery a day after you and i've eaten salads a couple of times, but to tell the truth they don't do that well for me. it seems to just "sit" in my stomach for a long time. i craved them too, but they're not as good as they used to be! Lisa B #2 226/183/140 ish

I eat salad about once a week. Usually I get one from Wendy's, then put the amount I can eat onto a saucer size plate. That leaves over 3/4 of the salad, and I take it home for hubby to have at dinner.

I agree with Lisa...could not wait to have a salad and thought I would just LIVE off of them...but they are just not as good as they used to be. When I do haveone I make sure to load up on meat and cheeses (protein 1st of course) and always have light dressing. My Doc said salads were ok after 6 weeks...cuz by the time you chew lettuce up it almost all water anyway! Good luck!! Wendy 278/228/165

I haven't had any problems with salad. I do one about every two weeks. Torrey

This is good to hear. My surgeon's dietician says absolutely no raw veggies for the first 6 months. I even asked about iceburg lettuce and she said no. hmm. Still not sure if I'm going to try it yet, but at least you all have been ok.

thanks for your responses, it seems so far everything ive really really craved has not sat well with my new stomach. so maybe like you lisa the salad will be the same. i craved shrimp and fish both good sources of protein, i chewed them well, ate slow, and up they came. seems like most solid food sits like a stone. so ive been doing a lot of soup. but that gets old.

Hi, Laurie i have been eating salads for awhile now,my surgean said also i could have them after six weeks funny before surgery i hated them now it seems as though i can't get enough of them,i usually eat them about twice a week,i put plenty of ham and cheese and real bacon pieces.I never get sick when i eat them.I hardly ever do soups mostly i do chicken, steak, chicken salad, eggs, cheese and special k cereal in the mornings because i get sick mostly in the mornings never in the evenings, guess i just need something lite to start out with.Good luck with your salads.Shelly 266 /193/130ish

I eat salad but I make sure I have some kind of protein with it like chicken or cheese. I also don't do iceburg lettuce since there is no point in eating it because it has very little nutritional value. I choose the dark green stuff.
