Hi Jennifer A stricture is when scar tissue forms at the bottom of the pouch where the intestine is connected causing the exit hole to become smaller thus not allowing food & sometimes, when not treated, liquids to pass through. This causes vomitting. My sister had a stricture at 3 weeks out. She had to stay on liquids until she was done with treatment. It's easily fixed by a gastroenterologist doing an endoscopy & stretching the opening back out. My sister had 3 of these done 2-3 weeks apart. My surgeons office said they usually don't see a stricture past 8 weeks or so because everything inside is pretty much healed. Although, there is still a chance of seeing one. It isn't normal to throw up with this surgery. As long as we chew well & wait between bites we're following the rules. If you ever find that you're following the rules, however, you are still vomitting then call your surgeon. You don't want to wait until liquids don't pass because you are at great risk for dehydration. Hope this helps Tammy
