I'm sure you are doing fine. I think we all have these feelings. I think if you were truly eating too much you would know it.
Now people tell me that I am weighing myself too much, and I weigh myself once a day. I think you may be overdoing it a little if you are weighing yourself more than once a day. We sometimes get too obsessed with the numbers on the scale. How we feel in our clothes and what our measurments are are just as important.
Take care
Joyce
It sounds as if you are in line with what my doctor recommended. I'm new at this like the rest of you, but I'm beginning to think that how much I can eat depends upon what I eat. It seems that soups and softer foods like cottage cheese, eggs, fish, etc, I can eat more. But, if I eat something that's more dense (like a a pork chop, chicken breast, etc. small bites and well chewed) I don't feel as if I can eat as much and if I'm not careful, I will overfill and suffer the consequences real easy.
I don't know what to say about the sugar. I avoid it at all cost. I don't know if I'll dump and I don't want to know. I would rather assume that I can't have it so I stay away from it.
The support group I attend twice a month tells me that if you feel your pouch has stretched to go on a liquid diet for 3 days and it will shrink back to what it was before. I have had to try this yet, but they all swear by it.
Good luck. Try not to stress yourself out. Just take it easy and try to stick with what you doctor recommended. We are all in this for life and we need to learn what we have to do to succeed. Now is a better time than a year from now when we are struggling.
Hi Jennifer,
I too find myself going up and down on the scale. I'm hardley eating at all (which is bad) but I've had such a hard time with food latley all I do is when I eat more solid foods. Are you getting in enough water, Protien & Excercise? (I'm not and I know it) We went to San Francisco on Saturday and I did a lot of walking and probably ate a little better that day and I lost a pound. Maybe your not getting in enough protien or water. You're doing awesome in the weight loss so you're doing somthing right. If your too concerned you might talk to your surgeon. Keep up the good work.
Debbie
Jen-
Why dont you try cutting those carbs, and eating mainly protien- cut the cream of wheat-and have something solid....cut the roll, and have more meat and cheese.... cut the tortillas and eat the insides- meat! That will really make you feel full, for much longer..... MUCH longer!
Meat makes you full for much longer- and make sure you are not drinking liquids, for an hour after your meal so your pouch stays full..........
Your weight loss is WONDERFUL! So your doing something right...
I had surgery the same day as you and I have lost around 55 pounds. My weight goes up and down by as much as five pounds at a time. I think you are doing great as far as weight loss. I, like another that posted, can eat more or less depending on the type of food. It takes less dense foods (like chicken) to fill me up as opposed to softer foods like scrambled eggs.
I feel like I eat too much too, but I don't know. Sometimes it can be hard to tell... I still have the bad habit of eating too fast (when am I gonna learn???). I definately agree that cutting carbs makes a difference. It seems like when I eat things high in carbs, I eat more of it and don't feel full very long, which leads to my other bad habit...grazing. Good luck with your weight loss.
I think we are all going through the same thing right now. I've mentioned in other posts that I too feel like I'm eating too much. But the weight is coming off, so I'm trying to take it easy on myself for now. I am in that awful habit of weighing myself throughout the day. I know you've heard that weight fluctuates throughout the day, so if you HAVE to weigh yourself often, just compare your weight at the same time each day. I usually start off at my 'lightest', then gain up to 3 pounds in a day...but then the next day, I'm back to the previous day's weight or less.
Debbie...I'm right there with you. I nearly every time I try solids...no matter how much I chew. I'm going for a second endoscope to rule out stricture, although my GI feels it's a motility issue. I've posted before about this problem and I'm getting really depressed over this. How do you cope? I read about folks who are eating whatever they want at this stage, and I'm starting to think that I'm having a major complication if I can't eat solids yet. What has your doc told you about this? I've been told it can take up to 8 months for the GI tract to 'wake up' and start working properly. He says that this is a common complication and there's not much to be done for it!
Aaarrgghhhh!
