Sunday Morning Check In
Good Morning everyone!!!! Just wanted to say HI! I got on the scale today and I'm still at a 55lb loss which I am very happy with, but, I have a question for all of you...... Are any of you scared to become thin? Let me explain, because i'm sure alot of you are thinking i'm nuts, but what Iam saying is this: Iam smaller now than I have been since I was 15, and Iam wearing loose fitting 18's so, I'm sure I could wear a 16, my scrubs are xl now and they are huge(my coworkers keep telling me to buy larges,But, IAM AFRAID TO BUY A LARGE, I JUST CAN'T FATHOM WEARING A LARGE(let me clarify:a unisex large: Istill weigh 238lbs @ 5'8") but ANYWAY.........I really think I'm afraid to step on unknown ground(so to speak), I've always been "A BIG GIRL" and as my face gets thinner and mybody gets smaller I'm looking in the mirror like "WHO ARE YOU?" .........
I don't know about anyone else but, big girls think differently than skinny girls, and and what do we do now that we can't eat all day, go to the buffet, cook up a big Sunday meal and get our grub on??? Go to the Gym walk, do aerobics, take the stairs, park in the back of the parking lot, eat
veggies salad and bottled water??????? EWWWWWWWWWW What is becoming of us?? LOL! I'm just playing, but I am alittle scared of becoming thin, but I think I'll stay on the losing side.......... BUT FOR NOW WHILE I CAN (AS THE SONG SAYS) MAKE ROOM FOR THE BIGG GURLS!!!!!!!!!
I am really not worried at all at becoming thin and I have NEVER been thin. I will just be so glad to be able to go about and know that I look normal and have people take me at face value and not wonder why I am so out of control and think I might be less intelligent than the thinner people. I think eating salads and veggies and drinking water is actually normal these days, so many people (like us) are becoming more proactive in their overall health care. That is what this is really about and all the other is just icing on the cake!!

Hi Michelle,
I think how you're feeling is somewhat common, at least at one point, for everyone, otherwise we wouldn't have had to see a pysch before surgery. The pysch even told me that she suggested I see a pysch about 3-6 months post-op as a check-in. You're right, the life we led pre-op is gone (at least if we plan on staying successful in the long turn) and we've entered a new chapter. But don't we have those same feelings everytime we enter a new chapter in our lives? Move away from home to go to school, join the Navy (in my case), get married, have kids, move to a new city, etc.? We're dealing with the unknown and with the excitement of the changes new beginnings bring comes trepidation/fear. Embrace both. It just part of the process of your new beginning.
Enjoy the process!
