OK ...I know I am freaking out, but I have gained two pounds in the last few days. I am not eating anything different than what I was (maybe a bit of extra salt though, now that I think about it). But My period should be showing up in a few days (and I always used to gain a few pounds, or at the very least not lose anything), so I am 90% positive that's what it is. So the question to all the ladies - is this normal for you as well? And yes, I am going to try and wait another week before I really freak out, but definitely don't like seeing the scale going the 'wrong' way!

Forgot to add that I have lost about 50 lbs in since my surgery.

It is very normal. I fluctuate between one to five pounds and it is worse when my little friend visits. 276/221/130

Yep, as long as you are following the rules, you're good to go. I simply don't way myself when I am premenstrual because I noticed a 1-2 lb difference and no weight loss that week. But the week after? Yeah baby, it feels all the better.

I hear your "Yeah Baby" My visitor is here now and I NEVER lose a thing for that week; however, a couple days after she is gone....bring on the weight loss...So, just think of it as a payment plan. You pay for a week for a payoff at the end.....

I also fluctuate with 1-3 pounds alot. It bothers me, but I have learned that it's gonna happen and that it's normal. Have you hit your first plataue yet? Congrats on you weight loss!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I just needed to hear it from others. Hopefully this time next week, I will have a woosh (of weight loss). Thanks again! Elizabeth

Just a quick note from a guy. YOU'RE WEIGHING TOO OFTEN! Hide the scale and don't get on it for at least a week! Personally, I only weigh at the doctors office. Home scales are too unreliable. You're doing great. Don't drive yourself crazy. Trust me, your clothes will tell you more about your weight loss than the scale ever will. BTW, my wife, who had WLS last January and is down over 110 lbs. agrees. Ken RNY 08/09/05

Don't freak! I gain a couple before my period and I promise it goes away after that dreaded period ends lol.
