Is anyone able to a lot more than before?

I was just wandering if I was the only one that can tolerate more food as compared to when we were one-two months out. Subway provided my office with free sandwiches at lunch. I ate a four inch turkey and cheese on wheat (I took off a lot of the bread) and I feel that I could actually hold more. I 'm a little concerned. Can you guys hold more or am I the only one?

Sorry guys. I don't guess I edited my post. I left out "eat" in my title.

Hi Sherry, Yes, I am able to eat more if I allow myself too. I also have begun having hunger pangs again. So, when I do and it isn't time to eat, I drink water and yes, I am able to drink more a little faster than at the beginning. This is very exciting to me as before surgery I was drinking around 80 to 100 oz of water a day. Now my intake is up to about 75 oz a day. This is great news for me. I have missed getting all my water in. I am hoping it will help me jump start more weight loss as well. I must say that I feel much better more hydrated at this point. On eating more...I just don't. I stop when I feel slightly to more than a little satisfied. That is usually about 1/2 cup of a meal (1/4 cup protein and 1/4 cup of something else or more protein. Just depends on the mood). Hope this helps you. Lori weight: 293/254/130 BMI: 55.4/47.9

Yes, I'm concerned about eating too much. I started a food diary on fit day just to make sure I am aware of what I'm eating. I love being able to handle more water but not more food. I stepped up my activity routine. My goal is to lose 10 pounds a month. I think that is very reasonable. I have been following my food plan to the letter. But I am nervous (and pray) that I am not over eating. Sometimes it doesn't seem like enough. Be strong. Stay aware of the food. Be active. My motto. Take care, Pam

I was just thinking about that. I drink a protein shake for breakfast, eat soup or something small for lunch, but then dinner comes around and I'm pretty much ravenous. I do believe I feel hunger pains, more like growls! I just ate a whole chicken thigh (usually a chicken leg) without skin and some corn souffle (more than a bit). I could probably eat a bite of something else, but I'm not going to venture there. If I pickup take-out at Luby's I can eat a little more than 1/2 of a big kid's meal (2 veggies & entree). I'm worried that's why I'm drinking my lunch and breakfast. I'm down 50 lbs. but so many more who had surgery around me have lost so much more. I don't want to screw up. Jackie B

I believe it's normal to be able to eat a little more. We just really need to listen to our bodies. I know my surgeons office said that by 1 year you should be up to eating a cup of food. It depends on what I eat. If I eat cottage cheese, it's about 1/2 cup. I've been able to eat a whole carb conscious lean cuisine. Although, it depends on what kind. I'm almost 12 weeks from surgery & have recently started to feel hungry. I think it's on the days that I don't get all my liquids in. I've lost a total of 53 lbs of which 46 have been since surgery. Sometimes, I think that's kind of slow, although I haven't been doing alot of exercise. I just started a exercise routine yesterday and am trying to be conscious of my liquids & protein. Hopefully, that'll kick up my weight loss a little bit. I'd like to hit the 50lb post op mark by my 3 mos anniv ont he 15th. Don't stress too much about thinking you're over eating, I don't think at this point that our bodies will allow that. I think you'll probably get sick if you do. Lord knows, I've had experience with this. Take care Tammy

Thanks for all the responses. You all made a great point about the liquids. I am going to monitor and up my water closer this next week and see if that curbs my hunger.

Hi Everyone! Well I just got back from a meeting with my doctor and the Bariatric Coordinator yesterday... I asked her a lot of questions about quantity because I too was concerned... BUT she said not to worry about it... That what is supposed to happen... At this point we should be eating between 1/3-1/2 cup of SOLID food. She said at about 6 or 9 months out we may be able to eat an entire lean cuisine... This is what is supposed to happen because our new pouch and our roux limb are becoming more efficient and working together... plus our pouch becomes less stiff and more like our old stomaches where it has a little give to it. Don't worry... Hope this helps everyone! Bridget 280/223/150ish

I constantly worry that I am eating too much. I do have a food journal and even though on paper it doesn't look like Im eating too much...when I think about it, I wonder. The problem is that I am never hungry nor full, so when do I know when enough is enough? I have caught myself grazing which I know is a and I really need to hook up with my therapist on this issue. I'm glad to see so many of us are going through the same things as we approach our 3 month stage...makes me feel like I'm not alone and that I'm always a 'click' away from getting support from you all. Like many of you, I really need to increase my water intake...I, too have been slacking! ~toni~ 323/267/180??
