Anyone losing hair?
AAHHH!!!! Don't tell me that!!! I wasn't expecting to lose it that quickly. I thought we wouldn't lose hair until about 6 months out. Don't tell me I'm going to have to run out and buy a can of paint on hair!
Seriously, how much are you losing? I haven't noticed yet, but I'm sure going to look in the shower drain tonight.

From what I understand, hair loss can be caused my either too much or too little protien. My pre-op diet was a low-carb, high protein diet that was to be followed for 2 weeks, but I did mine for a month and a half or so before surgery and I got atleast 70 grams of protien a day and sometimes alot more (50 was required), and I get atleast 50 a day, on most days now. Mine could be from so much protien for so long. I pulled out about 3 descent sized clumps last night
Not yet, but I am taking all precaution. You can buy NIOXIN shampoo and conditioner from any salon. Make sure you are getting Biotin via a supplement and or with your vitamins. Then make sure you are getting all your protein and water. I don't have much hair and since the surgery it is growing like a weed and has actually thickened up. So, I will keep this plan and pray A LOT....
Hi all,
I think I've started, but so far, not too bad. It's VERY normal to start losing about 3 months post-op because the anethestic causes the hair to die and the RN said that our hair has a 3-month cycle. It's rarely permanent if you're taking your vitamins and getting in your protein. I don't remember the brand name shampoo they said to get.. I just remember you need to get it at a high-end hair salon and/or beauty supply store.
Here's to cleaning the drain a lot.
