I am so happy, since I was released to start eating I have been trying to get in some meat. Chicken, pork, beef, everytime it would make me Well I tried some chicken Sat. and OH my god I kept it down. It tasted so good, my husband of course thought I was a spass, going around the kitchen doing a little dance but I see it as a mile stone. I just had to share my good news. And I hope I will be able to eat it again. Teri

I hear ya... I was so happy yesterday because I did a 5k walk for Diabetes where we had to leave the house at 6"30 am and then walk and then we spent the day at the mall. Well, I of course am worried about food. I only went out for food one time and I had a BAD reaction and got food "stuck" and we left. Well yesterday I went to Ruby Tuesdays and I ordered the turkey burger and it was good. I usually measure my food, but didn't yesterday because I was in a restraurant and I ate to full. For the first time since surgery I was full. So, I was doing a little happy dance, because I ate good and survived. Of course I also had some of the turkey for dinner and a piece got stuck and so I got sick, but, I didn't get sick at the mall and that is important. I keep getting food "stuck" and I don't know what to do. I see my doc on 18 November. I am also going to make an appt with the nutritianist and see if she can help... "But, Great Job!" It is awesome when we can eat and ENJOY the food we eat... apryl 245.5/209.5/140

Apryl, Can you describe the feeling of food getting stuck? I don't think I've had that sensation yet, but I am really careful about not eating anything that could potentially hurt me! I HATE to get sick. Thanks - Becky

It feels like something you have eaten has gotten "stuck" in your esophagus right before your stomach and that is an unhappy feeling. But, your body tries to hellp and sends a clear gel to the rescue. Well, so much of this gel comes that it feels like you are foaming from the mouth. Eventually, the piece will go down or it will come up via vomit; however, that doesn't stop the gel foam... It continues for about 1/2 hour. It is a horrible feeling and one that I have no idea how it happens. I still eat with baby spoons and I haven't eaten more than 5 tablespoons at a sitting. The only thing I can think of is that I don't chew the little pieces good enough. I had this during my puree stage. I have this with fresh salmon. So, who knows. I hope this helps... I do have a hiatal hernia, so it may have something to do with that. I have no idea.

Becky, Believe me, if you get something stuck....YOU WILL KNOW IT!!!! Early out I got a piece of chicken stuck because I was daydreaming and just out of habit shoved it in my mouth and chewed maybe TWICE and swallowed. Hurt like he@@!!! I felt like I was having a heart attack! I tried to flu**** down with water....WRONG! The water just came right back up. I hope yo never have to experience that! I will never make that mistake again. I chew chew chew!
