i am really concerned about my eating. it seems as if i can eat ANYTHING and not get sick. i even ate a reeses cup and didnt dump. i have lost 39.6 lbs so far, but i am wondering if anyone else can eat anything and not dump. ive never even experianced it yet. from what i hear i wont, and now im scared to death that this surgery will not work because of my nasty eating habits. im trying really hard to be good, but sometimes i screw up. kim

Hi Kim, I too haven't really dumped.... I have however felt a little barfy when I eat things bordering on too much sugar or fat.... The only times i have thrown up is when I eat too much or too fast (like this AM at breakfast.... one more bite too much... had to make a run for the bathroom... yuck). You may not have dumped on the reeses because i think one cup only has 14grams of sugar or something like that... I know it is less than 16grams which seems to be the magic number. Hope this helps! I havent eaten anything with more than 5grams of sugars because I was afraid. I havent dumped either other than the one bite too many thing... Alisa 08/23/05 lap Rny 58lbs gone for good

I have not dumped, sometimes I wish that I would. That would make it much easier to stay away from foods that I am not suppose to have. Since I dont dump i have to try really hard not to eat the wrong foods, and i dont always succeed. I have lost a total of 51 lbs. Giving up the bad food habits has been hard for me, still is hard for me. I hope with time it gets easier. Good luck Kim on your weight loss and try to stay away from the foods we are not suppose to have. Jennifer

I haven't dumped yet. I am kind of glad because after we LOSE all of our weight, we will be able to enjoy foods in moderation. It is scary but other people have done it and so can we.

Hi Kim... I haven't dumped yet either! It definately scares me because I worry that I'll be able to eat anything and not get sick. I joke with my friends that I have an "iron stomach" but I am alittle worried that if I don't dump I will eventually go back to my old ways too. On the bright side, even after I have tried some things that maybe I shouldn't have I still lost weight, so maybe it's not all bad (maybe we're the lucky ones!) Keep your head up! Wendy 278/238/165

I have not dumped either. The one thing that keeps me from even TRYING those bad foods, is not the threat of dumping, I tell myself "It was food like THIS that GOT me where I was." (as in, fat) and then I turn away from it. Just try not to be tempted to even try those foods, finding out you can eat them, probably will hurt your results in the long run. Something that might help is still to know there are limits. My friend can eat a whole Little Debbie, BUT, even ONE BITE of the second one, and she dumps. So having a nibble may be fine, you just need to stick with those limits. Myself, I don't wanna know if I can or can't, but that is just me. Good Luck!

I found that I can eat almost anything. I do dump but it is sooo mild-my heart beats fast and thats about it. I was kind of hoping I would dump and be soo sick that I would never want to eat anything sweet or fatty again. But from what people tell me on this site there are people who don't have their first dump until they are a year out. And some people will start dumping on foods that they have never had a problem with. I feel worried like you too. Have you ever felt your heart race after eating? Or felt really sleepy? Maybe you have dumped and you didn't notice it. My doctor told me that sugary foods will make your heart beat faster, you'll feel sleepy, and fatty foods will usually give diarrhea.

thank you so much for everyones help. i love this site because it is almost as wonderful of a "tool" as our surgery. i do not feel alone in this now, and realize that there are people out there having the same "symptoms" as i am. i think i may have dumped a little after reading the responses. i did get a little lightheaded and felt my heart race a little after eating a few bites of a VERY sweet item i dont want to admit to eating!! i didnt realize it was dumping. i thought it was supossed to be very severe. thanks everyone! kim

I haven't dumped either. I did eat a single reese peantbutter cup as well; not in one big bite as usually, but over an hour. I did get a little sweaty once when I had a protien smoothie, but nothing like dumping has been described to me. At least have that one peanut butter cup too off the need to have bad stuff for several weeks. I'd rather indulge in moderation than jones and end up over doing it. Torrey
