All Eyes on Me

Hello everyone!! I just went back to work on Monday. I am an LPN and I work 11p-7a. Anyway, before my surgery alot of people at work had alot to say about having this surgery(good and bad), so needless to say, I was a little bit nervous about going back to work knowing that I was going to be under a microscope. Anyway, to my surprise, everyone was really great!!!! I got so many compliments on how good I looked and how healthy I looked!!! Co-workers were asking me alot of questions about my diet, what kinds of foods, how much, etc. And what really surprised me was: There is this one Nurse that really had alot to say about me getting this surgery, she came down to my floor several times and "tried to talk me out of the surgery",("you don't look big enough", "it's very dangerous",etc) and the funny thing about it, we never really talked too much prior to this. She was very informed on the procedure and even stated" she wouldn't recommend this surgery to her dog", well, she is over weight, has been battling it for years, and also diabetic. Anyway, she comes down to my floor lastnight and we're talking about "my new beginnings" and she tells me that she is going for a consult, and the only thing that may keep her from getting the surgery is her cigarette smoking!!! Well, I could not believe it!!!! And here I thought to myself, thank god I did not curse her out when she was badgering me about this surgery, because little did I know she'd end up being inspired by watching me!!! I was really touched by that.... Even the welcome I received from the rest of my co-workers was soooooooo great!!! I just sat back and enjoyed my WOW moment!!!! They all were so supportive! Sorry if I rambled I was just so excited I had to share!!!!!!!!!! Mz RNY 8/31/05 40lbs gone 4ever!!!

Yeah, I notice that when some people were trying to convince me of not having the surgery, it was themselves they were talking to.

Michelle! What a great post! I'm really happy for you.You are doing great. And I'm glad that your co-workers have been supportive and some even inspired. My situation at work is about the same. Everyone has been very kind to me so far, even people who tried very hard to talk me out of this surgery(All were meaning well I'm sure).... I have no regrets about having this surgery whatsoever.. best of luck to you on your continued journey. Rita. 255/210/140'sh

Good for you! My co-workers were all supportive also. Really helped! They even hid the Halloween candy! I work nights at our hospital's sleep lab, so we're day sleepers! Keep up the good work - Becky

Mzchelle, What a fun post to read. I'm happy to hear that your return to work went well. I've been back to work for 2-1/2 weeks now and can relate to the nervous feeling of "all eyes being on you". The positive remarks have really helped keep me motivated. Please let us know what happens with your co-worker who is checking into surgery. Be proud of yourself for being an inspiration to her!!
