Strictures or ulcers?
Elizabeth,
I haven't had any problems as of yet, and hopefully won't, but my sister had a stricture. She had 3 dilations 2 to 3 weeks apart and is 100% now. Luckily, it's an easy fix. Although, it is a complication none the less. She had to return to mooshy food until 3rd dilation. She sure did eat alot of cottage cheese. Make sure you're doing your protein drinks.
Good Luck

Hi Elizabeth,
I had a stricutre at about 5 weeks post-op. I was told that getting a stricture is very common and that we can also have it happen more then once. I wasn't abel to eat or drink anything for about 10 days 9 kept on throwing up everythgin but once the were able to dilate the stricture I felt great. What are they going to do for you. As far as the ulcer I have no clue on that. Hope you feel better soon.

I thought I had a stricture, but it turned out to be esophageal spasms. I have the same symptoms as a stricture...vomitting, foods sticking, etc. I was scoped at 5 weeks and was assured it wasn't a stricture. Now that I'm 9 weeks post-op and still having problems, I am wondering if one could have formed after the scope. I can occassionally tolerate soft foods, but for the most part, I'm still doing puree.
Good luck and get better soon!

Hi, Toni and all the good folks on this board:
Your encouragement got me through a really hard day. I'm still having a lot of pain from the ulcer, but food (mushy) is passing through the opened stricture better.
I sure wish this hadn't happened, but I still think the surgery is worth it.
Toni, I would ask for another scope if you are having difficulty.
Thanks again
