Protein without Shakes?
What kinds of things are you eating? I still don't get in 60 grams of protein. But... my doc is strictly against any kind of protein shake. He wants us to get it from food. I eat cheese, cottage cheese, carb countdown milk (8 grams protein per 8 oz), lunchmeat, yogurt, tofu in soup and cream cheese. I am also eating fruits and veggies, and have recently started on whole grain bread. I have a big problem with meats still. Except the thin sliced lunchmeat. And eggs are evil to my pouch! I don't know if anything I have said helped, but I hope so. Take care and good luck!!!

Simply Smart fat free milk has 10 gm of protein for 8 oz, I have
this with Carnation Instant Breakfast for a total of 15 gm of protein.
Also homemade chili packed with red kidney beans and ground
turkey for 22 gm of protein for 3/4 cup. Sometimes I throw on low fat
cheese.
It's hard, I'll admit.
Good luck,
Karen
I saw this recipe on the main board and just tried it today for lunch, oh i'm hooked. Basicaly, it's like lasagna, but without the pasta. It's ricotta cheese, with mozarella cheese, with a bit of paremsan and a tad of spaghetti sauce. It is sooooo good. I can't give you the protein breakdown, but if you read the labels you can find it.
Hershey's makes a 'no sugar added' chocolate milk that is incredible. It's only 120 cals/ 13 carbs per 8 oz. and has 11 grams of protein. I occassionally add nonfat dry milk powder for an additional 8 grams of protein. Getting 60 gms in is really tough for me too. I am extremely sensitive to everything right now and my doc has me back on liquids until we figure this out.

I had a bad problem with the protien. My blood work prooved it, so the surgeon sent me back to the nutritionist. She told me to do protien bars, and they've been great. I also eat alot of chicken, which is good too, but not enough and you can't eat the same thing everyday! I hate milk and anything that remotely looks like milk so I had an issue with the shakes and powders. So, I highly reccomend the bars. I usually use Adkin's, but there are other good ones too! Good luck!
