Anyone else still tired?
Hi,
Is anyone else still feeling worn out, tired, exhausted, etc. It typically is later in the day, but in general I just haven't gotten my energy back since my surgery. My understanding is that by now, most people have greater energy than before and are doing backflips so to speak. I have tried going to the gym a few times, but am so worn out after and the next day that I can barely make it to work (desk job).
Don't get me wrong, I am very happy to have had the surgery and have had great success. I have lost 75 pounds in just nine weeks!!! (started at 389 and am 6'4" tall)
I have tried adding more carbs to my diet in hopes of increasing energy, but that didn't seem to work.
My typical day of eating is as follows:
B - egg beater with slice of cheese, one slice of whole wheat toast
S - Designer Whey protein shake
L - Whole wheat tortilla with tuna, or cheese & chicken quesadilla
S - Designer Whey protein shake
D - Turkey meatloaf with spoonful of mashed potatoes and LF gravy
I am taking in plenty of fluids as well.
Any advice or suggestions or need of additional info are welcomed.
How about your vitamins? Are you taking them yet? You really need to start with your B12. My doctor recommended a B150 Complex vitamin and I have good energy each day.
I haven't felt tired since my first week back to work when I did too much because I felt great...next felt tired and loosy.
How this helps. Walmart is a good place to get a B150 complex.

What kind of vitamins are you taking? I hope at least multi, B-12, and calcium. Have you had your blood levels checked recently? If so how was the B-12? I would say up the B-12 a bit. You can't overdose on B-12 so why not? I have had tons of energy since 2 weeks out and I think it's b/c my B-12 levels were high. That's just my 2-cents, hope it helps.

I just had blood work performed by Primary Care Dr. and everything was normal. I was running a fever for about three weeks on and off, and no infection found by surgeon in Emergency Room visit or by primary care. they thought fever was viral and it seems to have gone away, but tiredness, achyness, etc. is still here.
I appreciate the thoughts so far.....
Maria,
I just recently added a few carbs to each meal hoping it would give me some energy. Prior to that, I was still having very little energy without the carbs. I did speak to my Dr. a few weeks ago without much of a response from him, and plan to revist in three weeks when I go back, but thought maybe someone on this board had a smilar experience.
I'm thinking my body just can't keep up. The number of calories going in is so low compared to the past 20 years.
I just wanted to let you know..... that if you went to see your PCP for fever/infection they wouldn't routinely be checking your Vits/Fe/Minerals level....
Another thing if you did have some sort of viral Syndrome that could've contributed to fatigue by itself.....
I felt fine and energy was great, was exercising full steam up 'till last week when I caught some nasty "cold", and now I'm down like never before, .... although no fever or majorpains, I have no energy and getting tired from just getting to my upstairs bedroom in my house...
It will all even out eventually I'm sure....Good luck to you, Rita.
Hi Jay,
I to find myself tired by the end of the day. I'll come home from work sometimes and lay on the sofa for about 30 minutes before I do anything else. I haven't had any blood work done yet but plan to at the end of the month for my 3 month follow up appointment on Nov. 9th. I've been having a hard time with food and getting all of my vitimans in so I know that probably has a lot to do with it. My cousin had surgery almost two years ago and she said that it took her almost 6 months to get her energy back. Hope your feeling better soon.
