thanks Kim. I didn't think we were supposed to get hungry either. I am glad I am not the only one out here. I thought maybe I was not eating enough because I am so afraid of overeating. I also worry because my weight is not coming off as fast as others either.

I am so glad you feel the same as I do. I started at 275 and I am down to 243. I know I should be happy with this but I thought it would come off faster. I worry as well that I may be one of those who it did not work on either. It just gets depressing.

Kim: I think we are doing great. I had my surgery the day after you. I started at 263 and am 229 today. Almost the same weight loss as you have had. I never lost, and kept off, 34 lbs in 8 weeks before. Others may lose faster because they have more to lose or a different metabolism or eat differently. Cut yourself some slack, we are doing great! As for being hungry, I have that sometimes, but often it seems it's more old habits (boredom, depression, stress) rearing their ugly heads. Try to recognize if it's in your brain or in your stomach. Sometimes just 4-5 oz. of water takes care of it. Hang in there kiddo! We will make it.

You might be "head or mind" hungry rather than actually hungry. We have to re-condition our minds after all these years. I find myself seeing food on tv and wanting some, but I no longer act on it like I used to before surgery. I'm only 10 weeks out but it took me a bit to realize the difference. ~Rebel Lady~ TOTAL LOSS 80 lbs GONE FOREVER starting 310 date of surgery 290 present 230 dr. goal 190 my goal 160

I am soooo excited to hear I am not alone. From the 2nd week I was telling people I was hungry. I was extremely worried. I also haven't lost as fast as others and I thought I would be the first WLS person to not loose weight. It's very strange. I will tell you that 3 days ago (Saturday afternoon) for the 1st time I got a piece of food (turkey) stuck. It was aweful and lasted through Sunday morning and hurt so badly I threw up. That was the first time ever since surgery. The weird thing is that ever since then... I haven't been able to eat a lot and haven't been hungry. Very strange but I am not complaining. Any thoughts? I read somewhere that our appetite generally returns 3 months post surgery. I am 7 weeks post surgery and at times am more hungry than others. Today I am already starved. I also have been in a very slow weight loss from 214 back and forth to 209 for almost 3 weeks. I started at 237.5 and open RNY was 8/23/2005. Today, I decided to get to the health food store replenish my protein and pull out my Nutritionist notes and keep taking all my portein, vitamins, and measure and record each thing. I am now pulling out my water mug to keep accurate record of my 48- 64 oz of fluid and as instructed 60 g. of protein. Even though I would love a magic pouch and wonderful melting away of both body size and pounds, that still would not help me learn new life style changes. Each of you have helped me see that most things each of you are going through I have been going through also. This morning I weighed 208. Every one has a valid and helpful thought and I thank all of you for your sincerity and questions.
