I was just wondering how everyone is doing with there water intake. I'm 7weeks post-op and I have such a hard time drinking my water. What are yoiu doing to get your water in? Today I've drank about 12oz so far but I know that I should be doing way more. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Debbie

Horrible!!!! By the time I get my vitamins and protein in for the day, I'm tired of putting things in my mouth. The best I do is to get some crushed ice and eat it. Of course I LOVE ice, so that helps. I do know, however, that I'm not getting enough fluid, though. I have been having headaches for about a week now and I'm attributing it to some dehydration. Even though I'm sure that lack of water is what's causing the headaches...I still can't seem to get my fluid in. I know this didn't help, but thought I'd at least tell you that I'm in the same boat with 'ya. RaeAnn

Hi Debbie, I've had a hard time with getting my fluids in and my protein, but for one, I've made up my mind that I'm gonna do it, I fill up 4 20 oz water bottles with crystal light, kool aide with splenda or diet decaf ice tea, and when I wake up in the morning I drink one before I eat breakfast, then I make sure that I drink another one an hour after I eat breakfast, I already have two out of the way and the rest of the day to drink one more. That way I always get about 80 oz in cuz I usually drink about 4 bottles. And when I'm in the car I always take two cuz i find I drink alot while I'm in the car. Hope it helps.......................................................................MZ RNY 8/31/05

I used to LOVE ice water and drank it constantly. Since surgery really cold water is harder for me to get down. Let the water be room temp and see if it is a little easier to tolerate. It was for me. Dehydration is NO FUN, so please don't go there. Hang in there and keep on drinking! Becky

I'm doing better now with it, but there for a while, I couldn't drink water without throwing it right back up. It was so weird for me because before surgery, I could drink 4-6 20-oz. bottles of water every day with no problem, so it never occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to drink water. I lived on Clamato juice for a while when I couldn't drink water, but knew I couldn't drink enough of that without adding too many calories. I'm doing better now with it. I'm drinking a 33.8 oz. bottle of grape Propel right now and it's going down good. It helped me to eat Pepperoni too. The saltiness of it made me thirsty and I could drink a little more water. I'm just the opposite of Becky. The colder the water is, the better I can tolerate it. If it's room temp, I throw it up. Guess everyone is different. Good luck! Love, Joni

Hi Debbie, I am right behind you on weeks postop. I find that if I drink my fluids warm, I drink more. I make myself a big mug of decaf herbal tea as soon as I walk in the door to work every morning. I use the Celestial Seasonings. Each bag gives me 2 cups (approx 12 oz each) of tea. I try and drink 4 cups before I leave work every day. Then I have a 20 oz water bottle I sip on the rest of the evening. That gives me 68 oz a day. Hope this helps! Lori

Debbie, I am in the same boat with you I know I am not getting enough water intake either. I try to drink my water but after a while I just get full and don't want it. I am a week ahead of you I will be 8 weeks tomorrow. I am up to about 40-45oz a day so far. I drink my water cold it does not bother me I always keep a 20oz bottle with me so I can tell myself to drink it. good luck with the water intake and on the weight loss too. Take care, Chrissy
