I am 9 weeks post and wondering what to eat
I have hit the 9 week mark and have lost 30 pounds. I am discouraged because my surgeon said last week that I should have lost more. I have changed my eating to be almost all protein. He said to eat 1/4 c protein first and if room add 1/4 cup of veggies or something else. I have been so confused.
I began eating on Friday mostly protein, I lost 2 pounds and then gained 1 pound back. I can't seem to figure this out.
Anyone have suggestions? Am I doing this right? I just feel like crying today...Hope some other August folks can help me. I know I shouldn't get so down, but my surgeon has me in a tailspin right now.

I wouldn't get so upset over it. Are you drinking enough water? Some people lose the weight slower than others. If you are getting enough protein in, drinking enough water and are taking your vitamins, all you can do is be patient. I know it is easier said than done. Don't weigh yourself alot either. It will make you crazy. The pounds will start falling off eventually. At least you have 30 pounds gone forever!
Hi Lori,
I am 6 weeks postop and have lost 32 lbs. But... most of that came off in the first 3 weeks. 27lbs of it to be exact. The last 5 have taken me 3 weeks to get off. I think we are all going through the same thing. One of my problems is constipation. I believe that if I could go daily, my weightloss would start back up. I have some remedies that I am going to try per my nutritionists instructions. Also, I stopped weighing every day. That was frustrating as heck to see the scale not move or go up. I hope we can get over this hump and start losing again! Take care and good luck!

Lori, Don't feel bad. I think you are doing great. I had my surgery the day before yours and I've lost 40lbs. Sometimes when I weigh, I'm up 2lbs and sometimes I'm down 3 pounds. I know how frustrating it can be. I make myself mad because I weigh all the time. But I can't help it. I'm so anixous. You are not alone, so hang in there.

Hi Lori,
It is very frustrating to not feel like you have done as well as you expected. I keep going to my support group and listening to everyone in the room say how much more they lost than me at the same point. It is difficult. There are so many things that factor into who loses how much. I kept feeling like I couldn't even do weight loss surgery right! I'll pray for some patience for you - same thing I need! I'm also vowing to stay off the scales and only weigh once a week (I'll try anyway). It is so depressing to let the scales determine our mood and measure our success. Keep walking and drinking lots of water - we'll get there!

Hi Lori,
I'm about 7 weeks post op and have just started losing steadily. I lost 19 pounds my first two weeks and then STOPPED! I was so upset! I plateaued immediately and for about 3 weeks. Then, magically, I started to lose almost a pound a day since the first week in October. I also have an issue with chronic constipation and I think that slows things down considerably. My problem is also that I had a colostomy two years ago and can't tolerate alot of the protien rich foods since I've had nearly half of my colon removed. Hey, 30 pounds is nothing to be ashamed of! My nurse reminded me that I probably would not have lost that much on my own, so don't sweat it...be proud! I, too, weigh myself every day which I know is a no-no.
