strictures?

anybody else have strictures? what can i expect? i go for a barium swallow on thursday mornin, what's next? how bad is it? thanks, bonnie

Small world. I go tomorrow at 7AM. It has to be better than the vomiting all the time. or most of the time.

Hi Bonnie, I have had three strictures. It's a very easy thing to fix, they just do an egd and blow up a balloon to widen the passage. I guess some people aren't put to sleep, they are just drugged pretty good. But I was put to sleep all three times. The procedure itself only takes about 15 to 20 minutes. You'll be okay, and if you can't keep anything down like me, you'll feel so much better right after you wake up. Teri

well, i had my barium swallow, my Lord that was nasty! the radiologist said everthing looked fine, the "stuff" flowed through just fine. this is very frustrating to me. i have had my crying fit, so hopefully that is over. maybe i wasn't meant to eat meat, or solids. maybe i was meant to be bald. i guess i can be thankful i have not started to lose any hair yet. i have told mike that i am just gonna consider myself bullimic. throwing up is starting to be easy, although i may have to go to a darker makeup, so mike will quit tellin me i am as white as a sheet. i am gonna call amy, at dr. fendley's office in a bit, to see if they have any advice. (other than to eat more mashed taters!) oh well, i wanted weight loss, i guess i got it. ya'll have a good day. try to stay dry....remember, this is great weather....for ducks!!! bon

What meats are you trying? I can't do meats right now either, they hurt ( even though I chew them for 3 minutes ). I did find that I can have beef jerky strips. Not the normal beef jerky but the strip kind, and also spam. I don't really care for it but I've been wanting some kind of meat, so I cook it until it's really crisp. I hope you feel better soon. Well.. I had mine done today..and owie!... I wasnt put out..and was well aware even with dimorol. I hope this helps. The doctor said my opening wasnt even a 1/4 of an inch..............

I'm not sure. I've only barfed once, but if I eat anything besides baby food, cream soup or yogurt I feel like crap! So what do you think? Is that a stricture? My doc is scheduling a scope, I think? Rosemary

Rosemary, I felt like that too. I wasn't actually sick, but felt nauseaus. The Dietician said I wasn't eating enough(Never been told that in my whole life LOL). Now that I am on regular foods I feel great. Joyce
