Hi All, I just wanted to tell someone (I'm not telling my family or best friend - they live 8 hours away and I want to surprise them at Christmas) how I'm doing. As of today I've lost a total of 34 inches and 35.5 lbs since surgery date. Grand total weight loss since seeing the surgeon is 53.5 lbs. The inch loss makes me very happy! Happy Anniversary to all us other August 1st surgery folks. Dawn

Dawn, Congratulations on your success! Sounds like things are going very well for you. What has been the secret to your success? What a merry Christmas you will have! I can't wait to hear the reaction from family and friends!! Keep up the good work! Jill

Hi Jill, I'm not sure what the secret to my success has been except to follow my doctor's eating instructions. I did really great on walking the 1st 2 weeks and then got lazy about exercising until about 10 days ago when I started back to the gym for the first time since Feb! Therefore, it has to be the eating. Dawn

Dawn, Congratulations! I, too, had surgery on 1Aug05. I'm down 38.5 lbs and still going... May I ask your weight before surgery? Sometimes I get discouraged because people lose so much more weight than I do. However, my doc keeps telling me I didn't have as much to lose (I'm 5'1" and started out at 218lbs). Obviously, he's never seen me completely naked and standing up! Keep up the good work! Becca

Hi Becca, I can understand the comparison issue. There are folks on the board who have lost as much weight in 1/2 the time, which is why I've decided to focus on the inches, how I'm feeling about myself, and what I'm doing now in relation to activities. I'm 5'6.5" tall and when I saw the surgeon the first time at the end of June I was 258; the day of surgery I was 240. My goal weight is 135 so I "only" had 105 lbs to lose which I guess makes me a "lightweight" in the weight loss surgery world. Quite the concept isn't it?? Something that might make you feel better about those fantastic 38.5 lbs is a weight loss chart that can be found on Yahoo's personalized homepage. It's free and you set your starting and ending goal. Then as you enter your new weight it tells you what percentage of your total weight loss you've reached. I'm up to 45% which, at least to me, sounds a whole lot better than 35.5 lbs. Dawn

thank you for the anniversary reply, i had mine on august 1st also, and im doing great, i was 301lbs when i started and 5'4", i'm down 54lbs, my goal is 170lbs, so hopefully i will make it there without a problem. i too need to quit being so lazy and exercise more, but the dr. told me if i had lost any more he would think i was losing too fast, but i can eat just about anything. Keep up the good work.

Congrats to everyone on their awesome weight loss! I had my surgery 8/10 and am just starting to break through my first STALL...it lasted almost 3 weeks and was horrible. Then yesterday 1.5 lbs and today another 1 lb...so I'm hopeful that it will keep coming off. Anyway, down 32 lbs as of this morning. Wendy 278/246/165

Congrats on your weight loss! I had surgery on 8/1 and have also lost exactly 35.5 pounds! It does feel slow, but I'll take it!
