PROTEIN BLUES UPDATE
Thanks to all of your suggestions I have several more options to supplement my protein, and thanks to all of you my hair won't fall out.....
HE HE! Unfortunately, I was sooooo excited about the smoothie idea, I
made a protein smoothie out of strawberries, pinapple, and coconut milk(of course unflavored protein powder) and it made me really nauseous.
I didn't dump but the nausea was enough. So, I tried another one out of
peaches, pinapple, and orange/mango carb options drink(same as crystal
light),and of course protein. That gave me the same effect. My pouch started gurgling and I started belching, I thought I was going to vomit, but ,I didn't,I just felt sick. Anywho, I have an appt. with the dietician this morning, so, I'll see what she has to say. Thanks again for all the suggestions, you guys are great!!!!!!I'm out!

My husband and I both had the surgery and he has had LOTS of problems finding a protein supplement that he is willing to commit to. He gets the tummy gurgles alot, too. We think it might be milk issues...could any of the products you use contain lactose? Or, could the gurgles be from all the fiber and sugar you are adding to the smootie?
Our favorite seems to rely on using Isopure ZeroCarb Vanilla (50g protein!). For a little extra flavor, I use the low sugar OJ, about 3/4-1 cup. I add two scoops of the Isopure and then add some frozen mixed berries. We blend it up and split it a couple times a day. Sometimes I sneak in a low or S/F yogurt to up the calcium and protein content. You could also make it with water or Lactaid milk.
We have tried pineapple...too much fiber. Strawberry...too much flavor (and I think strawberries have more sugar than the other berries). Frozen banana pieces worked well for us too. We also tried peach, which was good, but not as good as the berries.
Another protein that we really like is unflavored Any Whey. It has a slight vanilla smell and has NO odor or flavor beyond a slight hint of vanilla (even in straigh****er). Plus, you can cook with it! Add it to ANYTHING (Ok, the mashed potatoes didn't go well with it because it tasted like mashed potatoes with vanilla...ick.) But make pudding with it or bake with it. I would stick to things that have a hint of sweetness already - I am REALLY picky and I promise...you won't even know it is there. I found that one of the larger Rite Aid stores near me carries it, though I had already pruchased it online.
Good luck!
