Hi everyone, For the last couple of weeks I keep getting really bad camps from my knees down. They're in my calves, shins, and feet. They're particularly bad at night. I've upped the exercise and stretching before bed as that's the only info I found searching the net. Anyone else experiencing this and/or have any ideas? Oh, I'm taking OptiSource and extra 300mg extra calcium daily. Dawn

Oh, yeah! I have had the same thing. I asked the nurse at my 1 month appt last week. He suggested I drink @4oz of quinine water at bedtime. I got some diet tonic water & ever since I started that last thursday, no more leg cramps. It is fizzy, but when I put it over ice, I stir a little to lessen the fizz and then sip it slowly. Tastes like yuck, but it works! Ahhh - sweet relief! Hope this helps! Laura

Hi Dawn, I'm a nurse, and leg cramping is a common symptom of low potassium stores. Are you doing alot of protein and Low carbs? That can sometimes deplete your body of potassium. You may want to call your Dr. and see what he says, you may need labs drawn. Good luck!!! MZ

have your pcp check your potassium levels. banana's & spinach are high in potassium, so eat up! bonnie

Thanks for all the replies! I contacte the RN in charge of my program and she agreed with just about all of ya! I'm now on potassium and more calcium. I have my 3 month blood work in a month so we've set up that if I'm still having the leg cramps I'll tell both the surgeon and my PCP so that they both key into the potassium levels. Speaking of which, kill 2 birds with one blood draw and be sure your PCP receives a copy of all your blood work. Dawn
