Has anyone else stalled?
Lori,
Yes, I too can empathize with you! I had surgery on 8/25. I'm down a total of 39 lbs (20lbs during my 14 day pre-op liquid diet + 19lbs since surgery) but have been stuck there for 10 days now! I still weigh myself every morning, even though everyone says I shouldn't.
I think people have given you good advice. I believe that after 5-6 weeks, my body is simply trying to figure out what happened (Where are the Cheetos?!? ) so I'm trying to be patient.

I'm with the rest of you. I can't seem to get enough protein in during the day and when I get even CLOSE to the 50-60 grams, I get such severe constipation it's unbearable!
I am 7 weeks post op today and have lost 47 lbs. (11 from the 3 day pre op diet and the other 36 post op.)
BUT for the last 10 days. Nothing.
So I called a friend, who is 30 months post op and she said, don't worry. Basically, your body is trying to shift things around and figure out what you've done to it and THAT in itself, will take your body over 12 months to finally get the idea of how things will work now.
So, I am not too worried about it. My friend said the key things right now are staying hydrated and focusing on building NEW and BETTER habits, to make this tool successful in the long run.
Come sit by me!! I had my surgery the same day and I have only lost 25 lbs, but sometimes the scale says 24lbs, depends on water I think. I have been this weight now for one week!! I upped my water and my protein, and now I think I am eating too much! I thought I also stretched my pouch, although my pcp said no way this early. I think we are at the one month mark, and used to going off our diets now, and cheating, and giving up, so we are balking into those old habits and fears. I was praying tonight for God to please help me and to give me the strength to exercise some, walking, that's all I am allowed now. Are you on solids yet?? You are doing much better than I am, so hang in there!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for listening to me too!! I was 278 5'9" now 254 9/27/05

I understand how you feel, I only weigh myself every Tuesday and this morning I weighed exactly what I did last Tuesday. But my surgeon told me to expect my weight loss to slow down (I'm 8 weeks out and down 54 pounds). I have a friend who also had the surgery in July and she has experienced the same thing, more often than I did and said that once she started eating more the weight started coming off again, and she had some constipation problems, she used a dulcolax suppository and it helped her go right away. Good luck!!!
Don't panick... You will lose the weight. Try upping your water to 64oz a day. I stalled for two weeks.. and didn't I think I went through all this for nothing.. But I started losing again. I hear that sometimes your body just needs time to adjust after so many pounds lost. For every one it is different.. Mine was 20... now I am at a 32lbs loss. Dont get discouraged.. just keep doing what you need to... Walk, drink lots of water. and get in you protein... Good luck to you..

I stalled also, I lost like 17 the 1st 2 weeks I was on liquid, when I went to pureed food I GAINED 2 POUNDS!!! I thought I didn't pay 24,000 to gain weight. I can not take anything that tastes sweet so all of my protein drinks are out!! I am not even up to my 6 small meals a day. If I am lucky I can get in 4, If I include drinking 1/2 cup of milk.
The past week I have been able to get in more protein and I have starting loosing again. I dropped 7 pounds in the spand of like 1-2 weeks now. Someone told me that you have to get in your 60-80 grams of protein to get the weight off. It burns the fat off. I start solids again on Oct. 12. I guess then it will start coming off better. Then I can eat more like I should. Walgreens.com does have a protein powder you put in your food, you can't taste it. It does only have 6 grams of protein but when you can't eat anything, everything helps!! hope everyone starts up again!!
