Has anyone else stalled?
I had my surgery 8/24. I have lost 28 lbs to date. But.... this last 9 days, I have lost one measley pound! I don't know if I am not eating enough, or eating too much. I haven't had a BM for 4 days. I think that might be the culprit. I just starting taking some fiber supplements so I am hoping that helps. My water consumption has been around 32 oz a day. Anyone else experiencing this? It terrifies me to think that I won't lose the weight like I thought I would. I have lost 40lbs in the past, only to put it right back on. It's hard not to think that maybe I won't lose weight afterall...stupid I know. Can anyone sympathize with me??
Thanks for listening...

The constipation is probably some of the reason, I had theat problem also. I think it was the vitamins and I stopped them for a week and drank more water and that finally helped and I did start loosing again once that was resolved. I think enough water is the key in both issues and getting enough protein seems to help also. I had my surgery on 8/24 also and have only lost 21 pounds was stuck at 15 for a about 9 days and wondered like you if I had gone though all of this to only loose 15 pounds. We will have to get used to these stalls they are evidently normal and can be frequent but if we eat right and only the amounts allowed we will loose.

Lori,
I had weighed myself on Monday of this week and the scale showed that I had only lost ONE POUND in one week. I re-weighed myself again yesteray in the afternoon instead of the morning because someone had suggested to me that I try that, and the scale moved to show 5 lbs less than what it showed on Monday...just four days prior! I think water weight tends to fluctuate alot. Try weighing yourself at different times of the day on the day you're supposed to weigh yourself.

Hi, Lori.
I had the same thing happen. I'm about a week ahead of you and almost 2 weeks ago, I was having the same thoughs. I had lost 27 pounds and was sure that was it, I was done. But then the scale started moving again since then.
In my opinion, you need to try to get in more water. About twice as much as you are. And protein is a key too. Probably you should have around 50-60 grams per day.
Water will help with the BM problem too. I didn't go for like 8 days, and didn't feel like I needed to. I even took some fiber pills--nothing. I then started eating a little fruit or vegetables with a meal during the day. That seems to have helped.
Don't worry, the scale WILL get going again!! Your body is trying to catch up with the fast weight loss. Are you checking your measurements? They're probably going down too.
Take care,

Thanks for your question and all the responses from others. I had my surgery on 8/11 and to date I have lost 31 lbs. I thought it would have been more and have been getting discouraged. I too have thought surely this will not be the end after all that I have gone thru.
I feel like people are looking at me and thinking didn't she have the surgery and she still looks the same. Hang in there surely the scale will be on the downswing soon. Sympathizing and waiting for more results too.
OMG yes I can totally sympathize with you...and just reading the posts about this makes me feel so much better! I had my surgery 8/10 and was losing just fine (31 lbs****il about 2 weeks ago. Then this week I actually GAINED 1.5 lbs! I am ready to cry everytime I get on the scale...and I know...I shouldn't be a slave to the scale, but I didn't think I would be having such a hard time with losing this early on.
I'm getting 70-80g of protein and atleast 64oz fluids every day, so I even started counting calories...which turns out are low...about 600-800/day. So I feel like I'm back to the old days when my entire day revolves around food...when, how much, what kind...etc. And then when I don't lose I blame myself for doing something wrong.
I didn't think that having the surgery would be a magic spell and that it would just come off no matter what, but I wasn't prepared to have it be such a struggle either.

HI! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Like you, I'm also struggling to lose weight and feel like a failure. I had surgery 8/26 and I have only lost a total of 15 pounds, with only 1.5 pounds this past week. I also have a problem with constipation and drink about as much water as you. I can really sympathize with you because I need to lose another 135 pounds and feel like it will never happen. Too make things worse my overweight brother (who didn't have surgery) has some how managed to lose more than me in one month and he eats junk food all the time. While I eat like a bird with zero snacks and only 2-oz protein meals 3 times a day. It doesn't seem fair! But I'm hopeful that I will catch up to him and keep my weight off permanently. I hope that your weight plateau is a short-one and that you are back on track soon. I am going to check your updates to see your future success. Good luck!
Seems it's the same across the board. If you look at the June or July board, you'll see that this seems to happen to alot of people. I lost 15 lbs in the first 2 weeks, then nothing for a couple weeks & then 11 more. I've now lost 26 lbs since surgery. I think that's kinda slow for 5 weeks, but then I think, when was the last time I lost 26 lbs in 5 weeks??? Uh.....NEVER... My advice is to measure because I've lost a TON of inches even when I wasn't losing weight.... Really try hard to get in at least 48-64 oz of liquids a day. I think that'll really help you.
Good Luck
Tammy
