Hello August post-ops, How much have you lost so far and more importantly how do you feel since surgery? surgery 8/02/05 start 260 now 226 total 34 I feel good but the first week after surgery I was crying and asking myself why I did this to my body... Now I know I have made the right choice. I can run up a flight of stairs without passing out now! I can walk faster than ever and keep up with my skinny friends. I don't have collorbones showing yet and I still have a double chin, but my fingers no longer look like sausages! I can fit into my car and on an airplane without a seatbelt extender.

I had surgery 8/22 My highest weight 3 wks before surgery was 260 Day of surgery weight: 254 Today's weight:227 Loss so far since surgery: 27lbs. (33lbs since highest weight) How do I feel?? FABULOUS!! I walked a lot yesterday & never got winded. I tried on a dress that has always been too small last night & it was a little big. I wake up refreshed in the morning - not goggy and not sleepy all morning. I do get really tired some afternoons after lunch, but that usually passes. I have napped once or twice but hard to do since I am working. My right knee is not always as sore as it was. The only complaint I really have is night time leg cramps. They are awful!!!! Everytime I move my legs during the night, they cramp. I am up and down frequently just to get the cramps out. Am I glad i had the surgery?? You bet!! Can't wait to see the final result!! I have never been thin in my life. I feel like a million bucks!! Thanks for asking! Laura

I had my surgery on the same date as you and as of today, I have lost 32lbs. I feel fine. Luckily, I didn't have a bad recovery physically, but mentally is a different story. I know I did the right thing but "head hunger" is rough. Plus I just thought I would have lost more weight by now because I'm not eating anything. I'm lucky to get 700 calories a day. I get enough protein and I try my best to get enough liquids. So it's frustrating when I see people on here that lost 30lbs in their first 2 or 3 weeks and it took me 6 weeks. *sighs* Anyway, I know I shouldn't be fussing. I'm incredibly lucky and blessed. I'll get over myself. Hehe! Good luck. Leigh

Hi Miss KJ, I had surgery on 8/4/2005 and have lost 29lbs so far. Weight day of surgery: 231 Current Weight: 202 lbs. I just can't wait to get below 200 lbs!! I have not thrown up or felt any ill effects since surgery. My weight loss has been stalled for the past few weeks, so I try not to weigh myself (less I get depressed ). I agree with everyone else that Mentally this surgery has been playing tricks on my mind. I have felt like I was failing at the weight loss (since it's stalled), felt depressed, and just felt like everything sucks. But other days I feel fine and am at peace with how much I've lost. I hold my weight very very well, so even though I've lost 29 lbs you can't tell that much - which also was working in my favor when I gained 29 lbs because you couldn't tell that much (ie my clothing size has not changed yet). As of two weeks ago I had lost 10 inches all around my body. Good Luck Everyone with your weight loss!

Helo there...I've had RNY lap. on 08/08/05 started from 255 and now down to 223...loss is not too fast, but I'm very happy with it....it's already starting to show... and I feel better too... no more feet and knee pain, trip ustairs at home doesn't qualify as "major trip" anymore .. I don't eat much at all... and still have problems even getting enough fluids down.... but I do take my Vitamins, I exercise walking 3-5 miles x 3/week and water aerobics x 2/week...I have no complaints so far.... best wishes to all of you, take care and stay in touch, hugs, Rita

I am 7 weeks post and have lost 32 pounds so far. I thought that was slow, but after seeing others in the same time frame, I see that I am right on schedule. The hardest is getting in the exercise, but I have been using my elipitical trainer this week like a mad woman and it is helping. My weight on surgery day was 293 and I weighed in today at 262. I also measure every week and have lost a total of 18.5 inches since surgery date and I definely see the difference. I have the wierdest shape body now It is a fun and tough journey at times. Still have good days and bad ones. Lori 293/262/goal?

My surgery was 8/23 start weight 218 today 190 Total loss 28 pounds YAY!!! Overall I feel great. I have had some days where I was nauseated all day but I think I have found out that it was because I wasn't eating enough. I had horrible back problems before surgery and I am proud to say that I haven't had any problem since surgery. I don't think I am getting in enough protein but I am working on it. I did have alot of energy but starting this week I've been feeling pretty slow and lazy. I think my body is trying to figure out what the is going on and why it isn't getting as much food as before. Sometimes I miss certian foods. But I deal with that when it comes. No rice is a big toughie for me. I still can't believe that I have done this and I am now on my way to becoming healthier and looking better. Crissy
