Hi Kim, My sister experienced a stricture at 3 weeks post op. In certain cir****tances when healing is happening, scar tissue will form at the bottom of your new pouch, where the intestine is connected, causing the opening to constrict & get smaller, which in turn, makes it real hard for anything pass out of the pouch. It is easily fixed by an endoscopy & dilation. My sister ended up going for 3 dilations. She had her 3rd one at 11 weeks out & the probability of it returning is very slim. My advice to anyone is to really pay attention to your body. If you're doing everything right (taking small bites, chew, chew chewing, waiting about 3 minutes between bites etc) and you are feeling pain or the big one is vomitting, call your Dr. An endoscopy is an easy procedure. Especially if you look at the effects of waiting, the passage way can close up not even allowing liquids to pass through thus causing severe dehydration. Thankfully, thus far, I haven't had any problems. The nurse practitioner said that she rarely sees strictures after 6-8 weeks post op as you're pretty much all healed inside. Hope this helps. Good Luck Tammy
