messed up already
Hi Julie -
I experienced nausea when I was day 2 in the hospital- and I swear this is the reason I had no probs since then (with anything staying down)
My doc wrote a script for compazine- its a suppository- they gave it to me
on day2 - and I have the rest of it at home- if it ever returns - but I would talk to your surgeon and ask for it. The other thing you have to be sure about- is are you drinking milk? I was lactose intolerant before surgery- and am drinking lactaid milk and cappucino flavored soy milk, and they are fine.
If you have any kind of a cold- usually an MD tells you not to do dairy -so I would stay off yogurt, milk etc. Try chicken broth with saltines or flatbread.
Also, every surgeon is different. My surgeon wanted us blenderizing our food like meat or tuna- I tried it and it wasnt working for me- it worked for others and this week he told me ok- go easy on the food- but dont have steak.
So my advice is, your stomach needs to stabilize, and you need to end the nausea, then you can concentrate on your diet. I even ate baby food- state 2- when I was 1-2 weeks postop- because I knew it was light and easy on my stomach - even applesauce is okay. So stabilize yourself, and drink gatorade or propel is good , both from the same company. DO NOT drink soda- that will def stretch your pouch.
I hope you will get in touch with your surgeon and ask him about compazine and hopefully that will help you. And then you can enjoy your twins! It will get better and you will feel better- Ive been told the first month is the toughest, because you are adjusting to everything.
be gentle on yourself and hopefully your next update you will tell us you ar feeling better!
Feel Better!

UH OH! I had some diet ginger ale and swished the bubbles out in my mouth. It was two sips of it and I threw it away - is that going to stretch my pouch?
I was told not applesauce - no gatorade - just protein. and try to deal with it.
I just had the nectar fuzzy navel - I end up having to make it 20 + oz with ice b/c it is so sweet - well my nutr. said I could chase shakes with water and I threw it right up. WHAT IS GOING ON? This did not happen the first week when I was doing the same. It just seems like I can't catch a break.

Juli,
I'm sorry to hear you're not doing well. Try Sudafed for the cold. I had an awful cold going into surgery (I thought it was going to be cancelled!). By the time I got home from the hospital, it was even worse because of the collapsed lung. I asked my doctor if I could take some Sudafed (It doesn't have anything in it that us post-ops can't take) and he said "sure." Withing 2 days my coughs (OUCH) and sniffles were completely gone and I was feeling MUCH better. Sometimes being physically sick can take such a toll on our mental health. I would avoid any kind of cough syrup because all of those contain sugar and I fund out the hard way about dumping on syrup medication. Hope this helped.

I had my surgery on 8/30 and like you I have been sick and throwing up. I have cried buckets and said I wished I wouldn't have done this at least 100 times. The last two days I have finally started feeling better and the only things I have really eaten were chicken noodle soup and a whole wheat saltine from time to time. I do the Nectar protein in my drinks and I can tolerate it so-so! I am praying that I am on the up and up and I will also pray for you. Take care~
