rashes...
Hi all,
I'm two weeks post op. I have developed yeast rashes under my belly, breasts, and all around my who who (lol). I went to the doctor today and they said that this will happen when there is excess skin that doesn't get any air. It is driving me nuts. My surgeon's office told me to use the Lotrimin AF (athletes foot cream) and that usually helps. Well, it didn't so I had to go to ER because it was so bad. The doctor gave me a couple of prescriptions to clear it up. I don't ever remember my parts sweating like this pre-op! Did anyone get this yet or had a problem with something like this? Thanks for listening, it helped me not scratch..lol

I am 3 wks post-op & had my first yeast rash - one under my tummy & one in my right groin. I kinda expected it since my husband had huge ones under his belly after his surgery last yr. The dr. gave him some Nystatin. It worked fine. He had them before surgery & I always had just used the vaginal yeast infection cream - the generic 7 day one from Target or Walmart - Myconolog. It clears them up over night. I just rub some on after a shower before bed. It is gone in the am. If you need to, do it several nights in a row. Unfortunately it tends to recur periodically. The GOOD thing about them is that they will qualify you to have insurance pay for the tummy tuck according to our Dr. Yay!!
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Laura,
I thought of using that yeast infection stuff, but I got to the point that it was so bad, my hubby made me go to ER. I guess this powder stuff I have to use too is supposed to be the best stuff..I believe it is what your hubby used. I can't wait to get rid of this!!! Thanks for the info!

Hi! Sorry you're having rashes. I have many, many years of the same rashes as I am diabetic and the yeasties love diabetic sweet people.
I have used Lotrimin powder for many years for the rashes while they are bad, and use baby powder (talc, not cornstarch, which actually feeds the yeast) religiously the rest of the time.
To keep the rashes at bay, pop the top off of the baby powder container, add a container of Lotrimin and mix well ( I do this in a large zip-loc bag). Put the mix back in the baby powder container and use this every morning after your shower under your breasts and in your groin area, and again before you go to bed.
I guarantee that the itching and redness and funky smell will go away quickly. I just found that putting ointment or cream on it just made it more sweaty and yucky. Powder keeps everything dry and happy.
Good luck,
elizabeth
Oh Elizabeth!!
Thank you soo much for that info...I will definately have to try it. I'm so embarrassed with that funky smell. My hubby says he can't smell anything, but I sure can..ugh! I have been heavy most of my life, and I am amazed that all of a sudden, here it is...
By the way, how are you doing on your losing side? I see that you had your surgery a day before mine? I'm doing good, I hope...lol...
take care,
Betty
Hi Betty,
At the end of week one I got what I thought was a bug bite that stayed swollen for almost 2 weeks. Had to go see my pcp for the ol' annual and found out I had shingles. Then I went through 2 weeks of my entire torso itching like I had a rash, but no rash, just itching. As I got more consistent on getting in my water and upping the amount of lotion, it finally got better.

Hi Susan,
The doc prescribed Fluconazole (generic for Diflucan) I take for 5 days, and also Nystatin powder which I apply twice daily for 5 days. It has helped tremendously, however, they haven't completely cleared up yet. The blisters are gone, now I am just trying to get rid of the redness. I still itch once in a while, so I just apply more powder. I see my pcp for my post-op check up, so we'll see how it is by Thursday. Don't these rashes suck?????
See ya,
Betty
