Okay, I am 2 weeks post o...
Okay, I am 2 weeks post op and for the last several days now my ankles are swelling. I used to have this problem before surgery but figured it was due to cafeine and I do not do cafeine anymore and the swelling would go down each night as I would get off my feet. One is slightly more swollen than the other. I have not had any weight loss in the past week (maybe one pound) and that is driving me crazy!! I am sure this water retainage has to have something to do with that. I drink Isopure in the mornings with extra water in it, I usually have soup or cottage cheese for lunch and then tuna salad with light mayo or some kind of lean turkey or chicken deli meat for supper. I might have added a little salt to my soup but not much (chick fil A's chicken noodle soup).
I do have my one month post of appt on the 22nd I hope to find out what is going on then.
Anyone else having this problem?

It is strange but at 3am I awoke startled thinking "what if it is a blood clot?" So I signed on to see if there were any responses to my post and find it interesting you suggest this is a possibility. I went to webmd to get more info. I will place a call to the surgeons office in the morning but they are heck to get in touch with and of course it is Friday. Think I will call my PCP too.
Thanks for the reply.
I assumed there would be pain in the leg or somewhere if there was a clot.
I hate ct scans and mri's and it sound like they do a scan to diagnose these, hmmm.

Nicole, thanks for your info, this forum is truely a blessing! I did go the my surgeon's office today and they had me get a doppler ultrasound on my legs and there were no clots there and Monday she has me scheduled for an echocardiogram and they did blood work that we should get back on Monday so what ever is causing the swelling (and it is not severe) will hopefully subside. I just think it is a problem with not enough protein, just can't figure out why one ankle would be swelling more than the other.
But I am feeling better that there were no clots in the legs.
Thanks,
Judye
