Hair Help
Hi Carol, I am still waiting for my psych eval but I have been taking avons vitamins for hair and nails from within, along with my multi vitamin, trying to get my hair in somesort of healthy before surgery. They seem to be helping now but after surgery we will see. It is NOT a crushable I don't think cuz it had a coating on it. Talk to your avon rep. Good Luck Brenda
Ok, are you ready. I hope I have enough room for this. I do not have a problem with hair loss - yet, but we were given a package of info before surgery that listed things you could eat for different types of problems. Hair loss is one of them and it states that "deficiencies of protein, zinc and Vitamin A may contribute to the problem of hair loss." The recommended daily allowance for the mineral zinc is 15 mg/females and 10mg/males. Vitamin A is 800 IU/day for females and 1000 IU/day for males. Good sources of Zinc: 1 egg = 2.8 mg, 1 sm red beet = 1.4 mg, 1/4 c. peas = 1.2 mg, 1/4 c. cooked carrots = .2-1.4mg, 1 slice wheat bread = .7 mg, 1 small pear half = .75 mg. Good sources of Vitamin A: 1/2 c. cooked carrots = 4070 IU, cantaloupe (can't tell amount-1/8 or
1 1/8??)=2310 IU, 1/4 c squash = 2153 IU, 1/2 slice watermelon=1255 IU, 1 1/2 apricots = 1445 IU, 2 medium asparagus = 270 IU. There, made it. I hope this helps - Good luck and let me know how it works because I also have super fine thin hair so I will be a mess if I loose it.

Biotin will help. The higher the mg the better. I am 1 month post-op & take 1500 mg per day of biotin. Along with other stuff.I know biotin really works for the hair because last year I lost 43lbs on my own & alot of hair also. I have a friend that had RYN that told me to start using the biotin & my hair started to grow back & fill in .It really works take 1000 t0 1500 per day .
