Hello, I had my operation on 8/23/05. I stopped taking my pain pills a week later. Yesterday I started feeling a pain on the left side. Now I did just get a dog the day before yesterday. I am thinking that has something to do with it. I've been picking her up; she weighs about 7 pounds. I have also been picking up her poop , so on and so on. So has anyone felt this way? Do you all have any words of wisdom?

I've had some pains that my doc said were probably gas pains. Said it was too early for gallstones. If you've been bending alot and picking up the pup, check with your doc. You might have pulled some stitches lose. Kat

I also had a strange pain like that after no pain . The nurse said it was probably gas pain & try not to worry. well low & behold I tried & it went away. I have been told that gas pains can come & go for up tp 6 months;-(

Hi Michelle, It sounds like you over did it. I had the same thing happen to me a few days after I got home from the hospital but I was doing things that I probably shouldn't of been going so soon. By the next day I was feeling better but at first I was a little scared but it did pass hope you feel better. Debbie

Hello Michelle, Was the pain where your large intesting/colon comes down on the left hand side? I just went through 6 days of it that the pain went on/off to the point that I was doubled over. Movement made it worse. The RN in charge of my program was pretty sure it was constipation/gas - even though I was having bowel movements. Went back to see the surgeon on Tuesday to be sure and he agreed and that our bowels are trying to get used to the reduced signal loads so the pain was probably from that. Just to be sure he had me have a CT. All was fine. One thing you can try, per my RN, if it's okay with your doctor, is a flax seed oil pill morning & night. Be careful, they're HUGE, and you want to be sure you don't try and take it and eat soon after or before. Dawn

Well I had a bm and lo and behold the pain went away. Sorry if I offend anyone. Thank you for all the help. I haven't been picking up my dog as much either. Thanks
