I have a question... I had open rny on the 22nd and i still find myself tired all the time ...feeling sleeping and napping through out the day ... I want to go back to work, I feel fine ... I just don't want to be falling asleep on the job. Does anyone who has had surgery around the same time as me still feel like this?

hi we have the same surgery date and I do still feel tired. I had the same fear of falling asleep an the job and I went back to work after the first week. I stay focused and take my b-12 in the morning so I have energy but when I get home I'm drained and its lights out! hopefully we'll get more energy with time. Bridgette

Ok, I think i'll return to work on monday . What are you eating now? Just curious. I am still on a full liquid diet and quite frankly im getting sick of it. Tired of drinking the same things everyday.

I had lap-RNY on the same day, as did a friend. She returned to her busy office job 10 days after surgery. I returned to teaching 15 days from surgery. We both feel a tired in the afternoon, and definitely go to bed earlier than before. We are trying to increase our protein hoping that the energy level will increase. She's found some shakes and energy drinks through nutrilite that have increased her energy level. I've started to drink my Promedis chocolate royale drink for breakfast, and snack on smoothies. I also have added the Isopure flavored 20 oz. drinks to my SF Hawaiin Punch and SF Crystal Lite. I'm finding that my energy is increasing with the increase in protein. How much weight have you lost? I'm down about 23 lbs. and my friend is down about 26 lbs. We are on pureed/blended foods for about 2 more weeks, then soft foods for another 4 weeks, and then solids (I think). Good luck. Jackie B.

I had Lap-RNY 8/10/05 and tend to get tired in the afternoon every single day! At my one-month check up yesterday the nurse and doc assured me that the tiredness is NORMAL for 4-6 weeks post-op. They said it is from several things...one being the rapid weight loss itself and another the low caloric intake. They told me that I should still try to exercise 3x's a week and that it will soon pass. I feel much better after finding out it's normal! Good luck and hang in there! ~W.

Hello Sleepy Friends- I also go to bed earlier but I am also getting up earlier in the morning. I am glad to hear that this begins to resolve itself after 6 weeks. I am just two weeks out but down from size 18 to 16 pants! I'll just keep dreamin about being smaller! Laura D.
